Front Passenger Front Airbag Indicator Lamp
Front Passenger Front Airbag Indicator Lamp
According to the manual, the front passenger front airbag indicator lamp is supposed to be ON unless someone occupies the seat or there is babysmart child seat installed.
Anyone with an 05 C320 4Matic can confirm that their light indicator is LIT when the passenger seat is vacant?
Thanks.

From experience with 05 C230K (I drove at the MB Road Rally), 04 C240 Wagon (loaner), and 05 C240 4Matic (loaner):
> the light was ON when the seat was unoccupied
> the light was OFF when the seat was occupied
From the manual page 70: "The indicator lamp will be illuminated except with the smart key removed or starter switch in postion 0".
BUT my interpretation is that this applies only to the Baby Smart air bag deactivation. And page 308 supports this: if the front passenger front air bag off indicator lamp comes on ---> a Baby Smart seat is installed OR there is a malfunction.
In my 05 C320 4M, the light is on for a few seconds at startup and then turns off. So I'm confused. I'm inclined to believe the manual but suspicious of what I've witnessed.

The light is on when the seat is empty or less than 60 lbs is in the seat. Also if a babyseat is in it that is designed to disable it. I had a 2005 loaner and was wondering why the light was on always as it is not in my 2003! Unless there is a Child Seat in it. Why they needed to tell us it is off when no one is there is beyond me since the bags will not fire if the seat is empty anyhow!

interesting on my 2003 and 2004.5 C's....
both, the light goes off after a few seconds.
It would be annoying if that light was on all the time !
I wonder if that is just a STARDIAG programming setting, or if it's permanently hard-wired to do that if there's no BabySmart seat or weight on the passenger seat.
