my observation on this....

its the KOMPRESSOR badge.

From what i have noticed, most people do not know the difference between a 230, 240, 320, 350, 420, 500, etc. they seem to think that the larger # means its a nicer and more expensive car. I assume this is from previous days before C, E, G, R, S.

When i first bought the c320c, the first question was..... why didn't you get the KOMPRESSOR? Isn't the KOMPRESSOR way faster? How much more does the KOMPRESSOR cost?

yea...The "KOMPRESSOR" means "Turbo" for non-MB drivers..ahhaahha!

Maybe those cars in the first post (except the Z06) were smoked by a C32 or C55, and since the body style is the same, they're confused and want a second chance. I don't get challenged much here in Dallas, but when I do it's the G35/TL/M3/GS300/Mustang GT. I get the feeling here that most people see the AMG and know what it means, so they don't really challenge it. I know my car's limits, so I won't even bother with a Z06/M5/E55/S55/SL55. Not much fun getting killed by a car that you know will kill you.

Obsenities, tailgating, driving behind someone going 55 only to have them accel to 85 to not let me pass...yeah, all hallucinations...hey man, pass the grass!!

If I was imagining these cars attempting to race me they wouldn't be pulling up next to me at lights, revving their engines, zooming away, slowing down to let me catch up, zooming away, LOOKING AT ME, slowing back down, looking over at me, flooring it again, etc. See, when I DO imagine these things I'm winning, not turning the other cheek!

I reckon it's because I have not seen one other C230 SS since I got mine 5 weeks ago, including trips up and down btw NYC and Raleigh, NC. On the east coast, the 230 is an oddity.

Sorry you ain't getting the same attention...you can gladly have some of mine.

if some one tail gates you.. do what i do... slow down. it pisses them off. and its fun. and if you want to be a real ****.. when they go to pass you, speed up.

I used to do that all the time...it provokes some people even more and I've had situations escalate to the point where I've done some dangerous things to get out of them...one move was straight out of "Top Gun" lol

I realize no matter what car you're driving, sooner or later you're going to have someone ride your ***....but in this it's persistent...

Oh well, no skin off my back...just sharing experiences!

....then there are those who want to race me while my 4 yr old son is sitting in his booster chair. Some people just don't have a clue...... It's got to be the AMG kit, Kompressor sound, slightly tinted windows, staggered wheels, etc.
Although our cars may not be as fast as others, it sure does look better than many other makes out there.

delbomber, stand proud...you got a nice looking car and a girl (who's probably hot too!). some people may have 1 or none.

This thread is funny! I don't really get a lot of people trying to race, I do however get a lot of people moving out of my way on the freeway. Oddly enough as I was driving home just now some punk in a Toyota Camry was trying to race. What a joke, after he stared me down at a traffic light I started to just cruise down the road and he comes flying by me, gets up ahead a ways and flashes his hazards! I could not believe it.

I had a CLK320 do that to me one time also. I was doing about 70 on the highway at night and the CLK320 comes flying up beside me, hits the brakes to follow alongside me, then floors it. I was tired, had 1 or 2 drinks, and was in no mood to risk a ticket/jail on a simple CLK320, so I let them go without a race. Of course, the "proud" driver starts flashing the hazards as if to say that he/she won. I'm sure that's a kill story for them. Hey, maybe that person is on this CLK forum with a C32 kill (that no one believes). Whatever makes them feel better about themselves and sleep at night........

Yeah, got the flashers from the Bimmer punk, despite ignoring him for entire 3 or 4 miles he was trying to engage...remember, it's always the challenger, not the challenged, who has something to prove.
