Wheels slanted in at top?

Just noticed my rears wheels lean in at the top about 1/2" to 3/4". Normal?

Yes

It's called "negative camber" and it's a feature of most IRS (independent rear suspension, not internal revenue service)designs.

Won't it cause uneven tire wear? I believe my garage's floor is level, but the front and rear wheels on the driver's side have more of a slant than the passenger side.

thanks
Jim

alignment

Under the circumstances, you might want to ask your dealer to do a 4 wheel alignment on the car, and to give you the printout so you can verify that the car is within factory specifications. The suspension geometry on both sides of the car should be identical, plus or minus the factory tolerance. If you can see that one side has more camber than the other, the car is likely outside of factory specifications. Theoretically, no new car should be sold if it is outside factory specs.

Has your car had a "pulling to the right" problem, and perhaps a corrective alignment? If the latter is the case, you may be seeing the results of the corrective alignment.

A small amount of negative camber (say under 2 degrees) will not affect tire wear at all. It's only when you get to the BRE Datsun 510 or BMW 2002 tii level of negative camber that you would notice extra tire wear.

No. My C240 hasn't had an alignment (3K miles so far) , although it does pull to the LEFT ever so slighty. I will have them check it out though. Thanks
