FWIW... A quick Google search revealed the below quote from a individuals car club type site. YMMV...
"Please note. Nobody was impressed by the PIAA Silicon Wipers and I have now removed them. Yes, they shifted the rain like no over wiper blades you have tried, and they also ran silently even when completely dry, but due to the coating of silicone that gets deposited on the windscreen as they wipe, they were obviously not designed to help you see, and everyone with them fitted has agreed they are in fact dangerous! (saying that, they probably work great in the desert)."
