2001 C240 external temp sensor position

i've been trying to find the external temp sensor on my 2001 C240 but i cant. i've researched this and some people say that it's supposed to stick out of the bumber somewhere around the fog lights. i've looked everywhere in this area but i cant find it. my external temp is always set on 85 celcius so i think that it is unplugged. i've looked from under the car after removing the plastic thing under the bumper but i still cant see anything there. can anyone please help. pictures would be great.

thanks

where the paseenger foglight is, to the right of it is a mesh like area, if you dont see a little nipple sticking out then that means that the temp sonsor has gotten knocked back into the housing. Same thing happened to me when my car registered it was 80 degrees outside in february. i guess a rock or something hit it back into the housing, to get to it you have to unscrew the plastic cover on the bottom of the car and then look for it and then put it back threw the hole.

Every year bumper is slightly different but here's a pic of my 2004 C230 SS temp sensor. They tend to fall out, only held in with friction and then they rest on the belly pan where it gets engine heat.

I have a 05 c240 any advice please would help me ! )

You have a wiring issue of some type the sensor can't cause the light to go out

my right hand side ballast for my HID's came loose and was hanging, so I took it back to my friend at the performance shop, he checked all the bulbs and fuses and the sensor they r fine he said it could be a power module?? don't know what that is so I have my temp reading -40, then my right fog light went out a week later my right headlight, and now my side markers?????? my right tail light is working fine and everything else is A1 condition what could be the problem?? Im bringing the car Tues, I think it could be the ballast when it came loose it was hitting my tire as I drove and I think it got messed up, but that doesnt explain y my outside temp is reading -40

I have the opposite problem of what most of you are saying - my sensor is reading super hot (185 degrees F) which doesnt allow my heater to ever come one unless I put it on "HI". Has anyone else had this problem? At least I now know where the sensor is, and I can make sure it isn't unplugged or hanging down near the engine block. If it is still in place, could it need replacement?
