Need help removing panel plug

I was removing the panel plugs in the trunk to install the t-anchors for the net. One of the lock pin heads ripped off while I was trying to remove it with a flat bladed screw driver. So now I have the lock pin stuck in the retainer barrel. Any ideas?

Push the pin all the way in and then pull the barrel out?
