MY03 details anyone?

Hmm..no info on the MY03 seems to be available except that post on the CD changer. I really curious of the expected arrival in the US, any face lifts, more HP, anything? I have read online that a 6 cylinder version of the C Coupe is coming. Wonder how that will stack up against the CLK320.

The transponder feature on the new 2003 CLK sounds cool, wonder if the 2003 will get it.

This has been discussed extensively. You might try doing a search. There is no six cylinder for the US. In Europe a C32 SportsCoupe can be special ordered from AMG.

This is one of the few things I don't like about the present C sedan (or - "Cabriolet" for SoCal240/6) the droopy-eyelid effect of the angled turn signals above the main headlights make the car look terribly sleepy. It's a sleeper I guess

The C Sportcoupé ("Hatchback" for our special "Cabriolet" owner) turn signals over the headlights do not have the same angle to them (the line is horizontal), so this car looks "awake".

So the C sedan could use an "eye tuck", not a face lift.

Even so, I'm not totally convinced that the projector beam headlights I've seen photos of so far are an improvement aesthetically. The lens holes are far too small.

there is no "facelift" this year, all there is, is the optional xenon headlights, which have clear lenses and different looking lights, There will also be minor modifications that we might or moght not notice mechanically and in other places. The actual facelift won't be for another year or two.

If you want a pic of those go down to the thread where it is about the 4matic with pics.

The standard halogen headlights are supposed to be projectors with clear lenses, too.

Re: arrival date?

A few C230's and C240W's have already arrived and are being held at their respective VPC. The C320W's and C32's are right behind on the water. The official launch date is suppose to be 1 August for the C-Class, 15 August for the CLK and E-Class. I'll inquire about a more firm ETA on Monday and post the findings. ...RAB

same boat here

yeah i'm in a similar boat. I was going to buy a '02 C240 the night I found this board...thank goodness, they didn't have the color I wanted equipped the way I wanted and asked me to come back the following day. they say it won't be here (Miami) till November...but for some reason I don't believe.

my thing is why get a '02 for a discount of just $2k when you can get a '03...even lets say with no discount. the '02 has already depreciated > $3400 based on Edmunds.com data.

The 2002 and 2003 C-Coupé are quite different:

The 2002 has a 2.3 L supercharged engine with 197 HP (DIN) at 5500 rpm and 280 Nm of torque at 2500-4800 rpm.

The 2003 has a 1.8 L supercharged engine with 192 HP (DIN) at 5500 rpm and 260 Nm of torque at 3500-4000 rpm.

Also, we expect the equipment of the 2003 to be a little meaner, with the Thermatic A/C (self-regulating, with rear cabin vents, rest mode etc...) now an expensive option, as well as dimming rear view mirrors, something that is now standard. I'm not too confident that they'll hold the line on price either.

So you may just want to go ahead and get the 2002 (I assume it is in stock, they're not building 2002s any more) if you like a little more speed and a broad torque band. On the other hand, the 2003 is more fuel efficient.

Food for thought...?

2003 models should be at dealers late August.

C320
My 2003 C240 is already in Canada, according to my salesman the release date should be around August 1, which is the same as the US release date.

Why get on '02?

Get the discount and a car with more content -- not de-contented.

It all depends if your dealer is in a major market. If you live in small-town-canada and you have a low volume dealer you won't see your car for a few weeks.

I just talked to the dealer here in Miami, and they say that the first batch of C320 is going to be delivered between the 2nd and 3rd week of August.

Hmm, so if I see a C230 with vents in the rear compartment, then it's a 2003?? Because the one I was looking at in the showroom had vents in the rear compartment. That's what I gather from description of that thermatic AC or whatever it is.

All W203's have air conditioning vents in the rear of the console for the rear seat.
