VDO Problem

So i got my 2002 C-class back from service 2 days ago and when i was driving this morning i noticed something diffrent about my VDO. It was missing the far left side where it displays what drivind mode you are in (W/S) and what gear you are in. The LCD does not look damaged the actual part is not being displayed. I cant get it to display. I can be in any gear. or on any mode of the VDO (e.g. navi, tel, radio) and it wont show up. Any suggestions?

P.S. my car went into service to get the starting system replaced, the seat mechanism fixed, and the summer opening feature fixed. The day before it went in for service i had the parrot drive bluetooth handsfree kit installed.

the top part of my vdo goes away when it is really hot. barely shows up in the summer. don't know if it really the same problem though since after i run my a/c for awhile, the top half reappears.

Mine has the problem on extremely hot days like pookie mentioned, but I have never seen it disappear. I would call the service department and ask, maybe this is a setting that can be turned on or off. Someone with more knowledge of the MFD will have to chime in here to confirm. I am not sure which way to point you.

I hope you mean the other left side.

The MFD can display this feature or not depending on the software switch setting thru DAS. German cars for example do not show it. In that sense it is similar to the beeping lock/unlock sound. Different country code setting.

this is expected effect. replacing it will just get you another vdo with the fading. btw, i hope people remove their radar detectors in this hot whether. lots of heat+electronics is not a good thing.
