A/C On, rear footwell soaked?

I just returned from a 2,000 mi. trip from So. Calif. to New Mexico and back, the first major driving I've done in my '05 C230K. The automatic climate control was trying to blow cold the entire time (outside temps between 90 and 105 degs.) and seemed to handle it all fairly well. BUT, every day the right rear footwell carpeting would become gradually soaked - more so on humid days. I did notice that when parked with engine running, water dripped on the ground under the firewall area just to the left of center.
I assume the water that was collecting was A/C condensate which did not drain properly and ran under the carpeting to the footwell's low point.
Should I take the car back to the dealer to check this out, which is not very convenient for me, or is there an easy home repair (assuming my "diagnosis" is correct)? I'm wondering whether this is a known problem, easily correctable, or whether it's going to turn into a big project.
BTW, the trip was great and the car was cool and comfortable. The dashboard MPG display was usually in the 31-35 MPG range although my actual mileage was 28.1 MPG (6 spd., driving fast at high altitudes with high outside temps.).

A different A/C problem

When my A/C is on for long periods, the carpet behind the right front seat becomes soaked with water. The car's going to the dealer Monday but I'm not confident that they would assign an experienced tech to diagnose this problem before they start unfastening things and/or cutting away carpet.
My own diagnosis is that the condensate is not draining properly from under the evaporator and is somehow draining under the carpet to the interior's low point behind the seat.
But, I do observe water dripping onto the street from under the left side firewall area.
My question is, are there TWO condensate drains, a left and a right? Or could this water be re-entering from under the car when it's moving somehow?
The car's an '05 C230K 6spd. Help!
