14cue and me r both from Vancouver so it took us longer to get the key.
It took about 10 days for me.

I had e-mailed them for the tracking number a hundred times, they reply none, i still got my key anyways, so you guys shouldn't worry too much about him not replying.

I'm just wondering why they haven't replied with any tracking info or status updates. but they were quick with the registration license request.

I got an email from OEM parts saying that my dealership would need to program the key?

So I went to my dealership today and got in an argument with one of the service guys...first he says that they don't do key programming, I said ok fine, so I asked if I could get the new style key, he said no one offers it. When I told him that I was going to order one he said, well that's a fake one...I wouldn't trust it, I just know that no one is allowed to order your car's keys!

Anyways, do I need to program it?

as far as i know they do come programmed! why would they send you a blank key? if you are getting one from OEMParts it will be fine. besides it's $70!

So you have your key already? From my past experience with the original smart key recall was that all you need to do it put the key into the ignition and allow it to communicate and you're good.

WooHoo! I tried emailing Jamie again today. He responded to my question about his whether he needs proof of ownership. He finally game me his fax number and I sent it right away. Now, let's hope I see something soon. It's been since the 30th of Dec.

I just got my key and it's fantastic. Placed the order on 31st Dec and received it in the UK yesterday

To be honest I wasn't sure if the key would work with me being in the UK and ordering it from the US. I haven't been able to find a UK dealer willing to order the key so I figured I'd order it from OEM Parts direct. I do have a part no for the UK version of this key (our keys don't have the Panic button) but ordered the key with the part no's in this thread.

At $70 I thought it's worth a try and it works although I have one problem with the key...

It doesn't seem to unlock the car key unless I am right next to the drivers door (I assume that this works using the Infra Red system). I know that the Mercedes smart keys use both IR & Radio.

The key does start the car and the blade is also correctly cut. The only issue I appear to have is that I can't unlock from further away or pop open the boot (trunk). I phycially have to be next to the drivers door (i.e. line of sight to the IR sensor in the drivers door handle).

My other original keys are fine and will work from all around the vehicle so I don't believe it's a vehicle fault.

I assume that either I need to do something to the key to make it work properly or is it more likely that the US cars use a different radio frequency in their remotes?

Anyone have any information on this?

Westwood, Bergen Co - I went to Prestige in Paramus - would have almost been worth your effort to come up here for a $72 key instead.

I can't seem to open mine either, want to compare the inside to the previous key (to see if it sheds any light on my other problem with the new key) and also work out in advance how to change the battery...

Has anyone else noticed that the OEMPARTDIRECT site has been offline for the last 2 days? Yikes. I still have not receive anything, including a return call from my voice message.

Sorry. Yes, that was a typo. The main site was up. It was the Trademotion server that has been giving me fits. It seems to be back up and offering all the regular links. Now, if I could just get that damned key shipped. They still haven't even charged my card yet.

What a moron the service guy is....pretty sad the people on this board seem to know alot more than most of the service people at the dealers. No wonder the MB reliability has been poor...
