Has anyone done autocross?

I think autocross would be really fun in a c230. It means we could have fun and push our car to the limits without worries of damaging it or ourselves.

Besides (if your car is stock) although the other cars in the same class have roughly the same power, their handling might inferior.

Also...for those of you who do autocross....would doing it like 1 or 2 times a year do any significant damage to the car?

Thanks guys...ttyl.

Ya I did a search for "autocross" and was just reading all of them.

I would think that since most of the courses never exceed about 50 mph our cars would work pretty well. Not sure though.

Just if some of you were wondering here is a list of the stock G Class which our car is part of if I understand correctly.

No, that's the complete opposite of reality. Our cars are heavy, underpowered, soft in handling, and have lousy autox gearing. I've autocrossed my crx for years, and took the Benz out one time last year. It felt like I was doing the course in Jello, and that's with some helpful mods at the time (S03s, Eibach sways). Nuk may disagree with me somewhat, but I'm not a huge fan of our cars for autox duty. If you're gonna do mods to get ready for autoxing, you'd do much better to buy a 88-91 CRX or Civic hatch for $1500 or first get Sentra SE-R/Mazda Miata, and go from there. Cheaper, easier to mod, and more fun out there.

But, having said that, you're right on the fun part. No matter the car, it's always safe (to driver and car) and fun to go out there. You do learn your car's limits safely, and become a better driver at the same time. And the only damage, other than brake pad wear, is usually to your pride.

If you wanna learn more, honda-tech has a very good autox/road racing section filled with great information.

Bring your car to the track. It's much better and more fun than the autocross stuff. The track is the place to be to take the benz to the limit.

I'm going to take my 05 C230 SS to Watkins Glen track and learn from the experts on how to drive it like a pro. They have drivers ed classes which have professional race car drivers teach you on how to drive your car.

I think autocross is really fun as well. Where else can you just go around cones, as fast as your car can!

Real men don't black out..
