Question Insurance cost. What do people pay? (Meaning you foo!)

Just an informal survey on insurance costs.
I have a clean record, for now.
(got my first ticket in the coupe passing a slow moving vehicle on a double yellow...court date forthcoming....)

I've been with Farmers for years, and pay a hair over $500 every 6 months for a good policy.
Age, 41.

100K/300K/100K- Liab and unins. mots.

Collision Deductible (D for short)= $500
Comp D= 120

Discounts- Multiple car, multiple policies (homeowners) , good driver, "premier" (for being with them so long I guess?)
Antilock brakes.

How about the rest of you guys? What company has the best rates?
I won't cut corners on the coverages....too many expensives cars and lawyers around here!

I live in NJ.....so WAY too much!
We are blessed to have the only state mandated/operated (and the highest) insurance in the USA...
I have a clean record, 1 primary and 2 classic (6 month) cars on my policy...just a hair over 1600.00 per year.
One minor ticket would cost me about 800.00 extra per year for 3 years, so I keep my nose clean (most of the time)

I pay 450 a month for my current S500, my C32 will be around 425. I was hit by an old guy who ran a redlight, and they still raised my damn insurance, and being under 21 doesn't help.

I'm with Colonial Penn.

coverage:

100k/300k
50k property
30k/60k uninsured motorist
no deductible

i pay just over 1600 for the year and that covers me on my coupe, and on my parents' S320 and E420. 18 and clean record (better be clean, after drivin only 2 years ). but i think the only reason i have such a good rate is bc my dad's been with colonial penn for 20 years.

$1040 or so every 6 months with state farm. that will change on july 24 when i turn 21 -- i'll pay $734 every 6 months. i had 2 claims last year for hit & run (door panel dented in a parking lot where i no longer live) and car stereo theft.

ps - progressive insurance wanted TWICE as much!

See Garage
C230 Sport Coup, I used to have Farmer's for more than 20 years, until they "non-renewed" me in 1996. This happened after I reported a "youthful driver" accident in which my daughter totalled a '90 Toyota Tercel. Oddly enough, the accident alone was not enough for them to trigger me. They actually said it was in addition to the 7 claims for windshield repairs over the previous 10 years (spread among five vehicles). Isn't that silly?

Today I have Traveller's. Same coverage as yours, etc. Age 50. I pay $440 every 6 months for my C320.

Exclamation

Accord:
You pay that per MONTH?
And yer not even 21?
I know it's nice to own cool vehicles,
but it's nicer to have investments that pay you!
Geez if I were you, I'd find something less expensive to drive and plow all that money into APPRECIATING assets!
Personally I'd find a nice 2002, or 6-series bimmer, or something cool, and drive that without comp or collision until my age reached a a point where the money out the door, was more like that per 6 months! Man are they (blanking) you!

Mr. Bob,
yeh, in 15 years with farmers, they've never had to pay. I had my windsheild smashed and put in a claim. At first they were trying to make me drive to Salinas, about 60 miles, to have a claims person look at it to see if it REALLY needs replacing....
Of course I pointed, if it didn't I sure wouldn't be requesting it's replacement.

Anyway, I forget exactly where it came in the conversation, but I remember being a little frustrated with them, saying some crap about,
they had to make sure about something, essentially didn't trust me; of course I pointed out, that I'd been paying out for 15 years, without receiving a dime in return, and they outta take that into account.
It's all computers, no common sense. If I was trying to rip THEM off, surely I'd not have waited 15 years to do it.
In the end, I pointed out that it would be illegal to drive the vehicle with the windsheild in the condition it was in, not to mention unsafe, and if they wanted to see it, they could drive there sorry asses over to my mountain home.
So, my agent is pretty cool, and she changed the catagory of the incident, so I could get a rental car, and take it where I pleased.

I may have to check out that "Grange" insurance company. Thats a good policy, but I'm sure Toledo OH, is cheaper than here.

Fuzzo, you sold yer benz?
