Help! 05 C230 Winter Tires + Rims (Tried Searching)
I've decided on the Bridgestone Blizzacks LM-25s as the snow tire I will use. So what I need help on is should I change my rims? The cheapest new set of rims that they had at the Firestone store were a set of 17'' alloy rims for $550. They were decent rims - but honestly for the winter I don't care what my rims look like. I want the cheapest most garbage rims I can get! (Mostly cause the winter sucks in CT and the chance of skidding into a curb is pretty great.)
What options do I have for basic rims? I know I need at least 17'' to clear the calipers in the car... do any other Mercedes models fit? Could I goto the junk yard and find a set off an older c320/230/240 or some other car? Are there cheaper steel rims available over alloys? Should I even bother getting a whole new set of Rims? What is the meaning of life?
Anyway, thanks for your H-E-L-P-F-U-L respones guys!!

Ask the dealership what rims will fit the car. You can often find OEM rims on eBay.
I doubt that they make a 17 inch steel rim for your car though. Good luck and let us know what you learn.
Have you considered the Nokian tire that is an all-season tire that is rated for severe winter conditions as a year round tire? http://www.nokiantires.com/newsite/tiresub.cfm?cid=6

I recommend watching the classified section here. Quite often guys will upsize their wheels and sell the 17" OEM rims and tires. You can often get the rims plus some OEM tires (which aren't cheap) at a decent price, and since they're M-B wheels, you know they'll be right.
Good luck!
