My dealer (I understand most, also) allowed me to bring in my car once a year, at about 9,000 miles since the last service. The Mobil One oil can go beyond 10K, but concensus here is to question if it's good for the oil filter.
If you have only 4200 miles total since new, you don't need your A-service now. I would start making a list of those little quality problems youwant fixed under warranty, so you can submit this at the same time youhave your A-service done.

please get this straight,
the 3,000 Courtesy Check is just that, a check.
NOT SERVICE, unless you request it / need it, and thus pay for it.

On the MY05 there is a time limit of approximately 13 month on the FSS. Its not like the MY04 and pre. Depending on when your vehicle was built, when you bought it, etc the timer could very well claim that time is up and the service is needed. Whether or not it is actually needed is a question for another topic/thread.

Early Service A
My car also complained four months early that I needed Service A. The clock was set at the factory, and it took four months before I took the car off the lot. The service Bob told me that I could wait a bit since I had only 9,000 miles on the car, but the factory wants the oil changed at least once a year.
He further explained that the products of combustion in the oil get removed, and that some of the Mobil 1 components get weak with time and useage. My unanswered question is does the oil have a shelf life, or does it start to wear when first exposed to products of combustion in the engine?
I deceided to have it done, just in case there is a warranty issue later, the factory cannot claim a missed service interval. A call to MBUSA was not instructive, except to tell me to follow the service reminders in the car.
@ Amdeutsch: You missed my flag!

Is it a "must" to go to the dealer for our service A? I have a mechanic buddy that said he would do it for me. I trust him but im not sure if he will cover everything in a Service A. It would save me a atleast 150. SHould i do it? What is changed in a Service A? I searched and found nothing.....

Or you can join "owners online" and I know I was able to print out information from the website about what they do for "Service A" and "Service B". I don't know if anything has changed at all, but that's just an alternate option.
