Question Don't have manual with me - how do you get audio verification of alarm?

I was watching Memento on Sunday (great movie, by the way), and he kept alarming and un-alarming his Jag, that it made me wonder about my c230's alarm. Is there an option for getting a beep when arming? If so, how is it selected?

Thanks for any info. It would be much easier than actually having to read from my manual tonight.

Audio alert of arming the alarm

As I understand it the system can not be set to give an audio alert when arming the alarm, should would be a nice feature though!

Actually, I'm glad my C240 doesn't make sounds when the alarm is armed -- I think the lights flashing is sufficient. I'm tired of Lexus' beeping all the time when they are armed/disarmed -- to me, it's cheap sounding. I think the M-B philosophy is one of restraint and understatement, which seems to extend to alarm arming. But, what an alarm! The first time I tried it I was happily surprised. The piercing siren sound is so much better than the weak "beep beep" found in many other cars. Just my $.02

Alarm Options

Actually, the alarm CAN be programmed by the dealer to chip as well as flash. The service dept. needs to hook the car up to the STAR Diag. computer to do this porgramming. This is a little known feature and most dealers won't even know it exists. The feature they need to enable is under the "Norway" settings in their STAR Diag. computer. This option was first discovered by someone on the C32life forum. Since then several owners have had this option enabled and they report it works well.

You can always break your window and open the door from the inside if you want an audio verification.

I thought that's what the red button on the key is.

That sets it off whether it's armed or not. Trust me, breaking your window and opening the door from the inside is your best test.... Let me know how it works!
