Yeah, I'm curious about the numbers for the 06 c230 especialy with the manual. I have one on order, and should arrive early October. I'm guessing you drive more in city rrpnow? and have been having a bit of fun with your new car? Also its brand new, so it'll take a while for the engine to break in before you get a bit better mileage.

Yeah, it's getting crazy here. The neighbor islands like Maui and Kauai are paying close to or over $4.00 a gallon. It's supposed to go down a little next week though. *crosses fingers*

Maybe it's my driving, but my 01 240 realistically gets approx. 16-20 mpg in the city and approx. 23-28 mpg on the hwy. I average about 280-290 miles per tank, it has never gone above 300 miles/tank. I am driving the car out of state next month so I will be able to see how many HWY miles I will be able to get from one tank of gas.

Quote: My car is still new, so I don't know if it's completely broken in, but I'm getting at least 300 miles per tank. It's a defnite good thing considering it took $50 to fill it up yesterday.. but I only need gas like once every two weeks because of 1) the mpg, and 2) I don't drive far to work. On the highway my mpg averages 31 (my car has only really been on two long highway road trips) and in town about 25 mpg.
how many miles do you have on the car? after i hit 10,000 miles i started seeing better highway mileage every week, it went from 28-29-30-31

I have 2004.5 C320 and i get 24 mpg going to work which is 17 miles and none of that is highway. On the way home it's not as good only 21 mpg but traffic is heavier at that time.

I went to Hilton Head Last month and got 30 mpg average going about 75 mph most of the way, most of that was on the interstate.

The number you guys are posting on your 230's kind of suprise me I figured it would be higher with the 4 cyl engine. But I guess they have the same body weight

Gas mileage numbers
My '01 C320's fuel consumption numbers have never been very impressive. The around town mileage runs from 18.something to 20 if I'm lucky. My very best ever was an all interstate steady speed 300 mile run and the thing couldn't get out of 25. And I had about two gallons left.

Using the trip computer, I look at the mpg every time I fuel it and zero it out. Of course, if I zero out the "after start" reading while running at a steady highway speed, it will read in the lower 30's which is completely meaningless. The only way to get an accurate number is on a complete fillup.

These $45 fillups are getting painful.

'05 C230 auto.....24-26 City and 29-33 Freeways on 93 Octane only! 2 weeks ago, Premium was $3.45/ gallon and now, it's $2.95/gallon. For 3000+ miles with mixed city and freeways, the screen says 29.4 mpg. $45+ fill-ups are indeed very painful these days.

Just returned from a 4000 mile trip. Overall average for our automatic C240 was 27.8 mpg - this often at 75-80 mph or more, with the AC compressor on about 2/3 of the time.

In cold-start suburban driving, our average is 19-21 mpg, with trip lengths of 10-15 miles. Trip length is critical - anything less than 7-8 miles, even on the freeway, will tend to be in the 18 mpg range. Once it gets warm, on any trip that totals at least 15 miles round-trip, then we will see 20-22 mpg.

The trip average from this last road vacation is pretty consistent with all of our long-trip experiences - 26-30 mpg depending on conditions, with 28 mpg being a good average.

You won't believe it....

513 miles on one tank (not entirely by choice) with my 2002 16 gallon tank--from Columbus Montana to Cheyenne Wyoming. I drove about 50 miles AFTER the needle was completely resting.

Tip: if you drive through Wyoming make sure to carefully plan your gas stops--expecting 100+ mile intervals in some streches!!
