Exclamation Oem

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer

Be careful about adding things to make your lights blue. If you get pulled over and there is a set of blue LED's in the light fixture you will get a ticket.

They aren't that strict with parking lights, but headlights is a different story.

I don't know how the fog lights are in 2005 models, but 2004.5 have a silver cover, so you can't see the blue.

Drex: Are your fogs PIAA also? I was running SPP (www.supremepowerparts.com) super white 9005 55w fogs in my AMG, but switched to Philips Silvervision H7 55w fogs in my new Expression. The light output seems brighter, but the color does not match as well. The SPP were whiter, while the Silvervision have a slight yellow tint. Overall, it looks ok but does not match perfectly. I took a couple pics last night, so I'll try and post them tonight when I get home from work.

Fogs are NOKYA Arctic White now. The one in the picture, I believe, is when I had the Arctic Purple bulbs. Both 9006 and around 75-80w max output, but I'm thinking the Arctic Purple looked better. The arctic White is looking too blue for my tastes. Eventually, when I get a different front end, I'm probably going with yellow for more visability.

I've heard stories about the Silvervisions not matching as well. Just to pre-warn you if you decide to try the NOKYA's, one of the arctic purple bulbs burned out pretty quick and if you run your fogs all the time like I do and you leave your lights on "auto", same will probably happen in the Expression (HELLA) fogs.

I'm considering doing an LED swap (w/ the equalizer) for the parking lights and side markers.

I'm not convinced of going to HID fogs, since I'm too damn lazy...lol. I did HID conversions in other cars before, but that was for headlights, so if I wanted to do fogs, that'd mean lifting up the car (on jack stands) and sliding underneath and I'm starting to not enjoy that as much.

Anything from the top of the car, fine. If I gotta squat down and lie down on the floor to do stuff, my knees (after 2 surgeries) just can't take the abuse...HAHAHA.

LoL...hmmm...well, I'm pretty sure that Phillips and Sylvania are affiliated and/or the same company, so even though the complaints were about the Silvervisions, I wouldn't be surprised if they applied to the Silverstars as well.

That being said, the PIAA's are quite pricey, but I know out of all the aftermarket halogen bulbs in foglights, those match the best. I don't think HELLA makes just bulbs anymore (but I could be wrong on that).

My cousin has HID's in his JDM headlights and used PIAA Extreme White fogs. It was the closest to matching as possible. Only problem is, no matter what, there isn't an aftermarket halogen bulb that'll come to a perfect match to the HID headlights.

Just my .02 input/opinion. I'd say, sure change out the amber turning blinkers...but the yellowish "standard" bulbs have an amazing look to them when next to the HID lights. Its something I've always admired since I saw the orange, white and pale white/yellow lights of the former S class headlights (the foggy/diffuse ones)...there is just something about having several different colors in the headlamp - something that always catches my eye when I'm driving as an attention getter.

So there's my input :-)...change them if you must.

i too have the standard lights, and well i wanted to get xenons, but its not worth 1250 for me... so what would be a nice replacement? I don't wanna spend more than 200 ish... I just want to change the main lights, maybe low beam and high beam... So what do you guys recommend? Its for a 2006 C230 SS...

Yeah, I just realized that...LOL. Yup, saw all the pics.

No AIM for me at work. We're not really "supposed" to have it even though a lot of people do anyway...but my AIM name is very similar to my screename here.

I rarely go on at all, cuz I'm always on the phone or typing ish or on the phone. That's why I like posting on the forums, cuz I can leave it and come back to it later.

Thanks man. I wish I had PIAA or SPP fogs too, but since the Expression fogs take H7, I had to run to Kragen last minute and settle for Silverstars.

Yea, but then I'll need to have D remove the bumper again. The fogs aren't something I can just swap.

The city lights were purchased from Performance Products. They're easy to install once you can figure out how to remove the stock ones. I spent a significant amount of time doing the first one, then the second one was a snap once I had it figured out. I picked up the fogs from Kragen.

Like Blake said, once you figure it out, it's a pretty quick swap. The socket turns and snaps in, so when turning the socket to take it out, I didn't want to put too much elbow grease and brake the socket. It didn't take me that long, but longer than it would normally take me to replace a bulb (at first). Now, I take a look at the bulbs pretty frequently to make sure that they are good.

Definitely worthwhile to get the PIAA's for the city lights and if you want to go all out, get them for the FOGS also.
