- reverse gear popping out -
well.. the subject is pretty self-explanatory
Every once in a while i place my stick shift in reverse and as i engage the gear.. the stick pops into neutral and i have to put it back into its spot all over again..
-it makes a pretty big "thump" sound.
have any of you experiened this? yes? no? maybe so?
think it's a tranny problem?
oh well..
thanks guys.,

A couple of people have had a problem with this in 1st gear, but not reverse as far as I can remember. I think a lot of these problems are due to poorly adjusted shifters. The only problem is that the dealer won't do anything unless they can duplicate it.

Yes this happens and I have posted about this before when I first joined this forum. The solutions I have heard from member is to put the car in first gear first before engaging in reverse or you must depress the clutch completely after starting the car before engaging in reverse. These are the only 2 ways that I have heard to stop that. My car grinds really loud when it pops out of reverse so I have been taking this advice most of the time. I have to admit it has helped a lot but once in a while I still grind. Its because I am in a hurry and I dont depress the clutch before trying to back up.
