Is there something specific about Bix that I have to worry about? I don't have a problem taking it apart, but other than breaking the lenses, what else can happen?

I'm going to do the same project for my buddy's tacoma maybe next month.
So his headlights going to be my practice project.

just be careful and take your time, and nothing should happen. you need to heat up the lens before removal.

This mod has been done before safely. Silver on the inside lining of the housing - I've seen it in person on ronnie's C32 back in the day - yes, authentic BiX.

Based on experience painting vs. tinting shrouds in headlight assemblies? You have examples to share?

I don't think it looks too different with a silver car, i think it would look a lot better with a darker color.

exactly my point. I have it appart, I might as well F*CK with them. I think I am going to try:

1) spray tint. (it will go well with my silver/black theme)
2) Silver paint to match the body
or
3) a faux brushed aluminum look.

I'd like to see how the tint works out. You could always clean the tint off if you don't like it before you clearcoat it right? I had to do that once with the tails on my old car.

You can remove it even if you apply the clear, it will just take a little more effort.

My guess it that the paint/tint wont stick all that well to the plastic and if I mess up, some acetone will remove it with out damaging the head light.

Since it wont be in contact with anything once you put the lense back on I dont think that you need to sand the chrome off.

I'm VERY familiar with the Evo, cuz my cousin did custom black housings in his A-SPEC headlights on his MR.

Okay, so let me get this straight, you're comparing doing this on the EVO headlights vs. the Mercedes Benz BI-X?...Dude, the JDM EVO headlights are almost 1/3 the price for both left and right compared to OEM Benz Bi-x!

So, if you do it on an EVO A-Spec headlights and you mess up, you can go out and buy REAL JDM headlights for $600+ ! You mess up the OEM BI-X, that's ~$1,600!
