yes and no, it may make a cleaner looking a$$ end but would you do it if it said C55 instead of C230?

Looks clean though

there are enough other unique qualities to a C55 that anyone who knows or cares about the difference will be able to tell...badge or not IMHO

so funnny you should say that. wednesday i pulled out of the parking garage at work and at the light about 2 cars up ahead to my left was a black debagded SL. at first i thought it was a 500 but then saw the dual quad exhaust, ugly spoke type wheels and V8 kompressor on the side fender. i thought "man, this guy is cool. he could care less about everyone knowing what he's driving". i know alot of M3 owners who debagded as well. i debagded my 330Ci and my C230k. love the way it looks

I disagree. A debadged car looks very clean looking. I tried to have them not put the (230 Kompressor) badges on my car, but they said they had to do it for production purposes. The minute they took it off the truck to put in the showroom, they took off the badges (as I requested), promptly put it next to the Maybach they had, and soon after got 4 or 5 offers for the car! Good thing I had that thing special ordered and my money was already down as refundable deposit.

And you are partially right (as far as my case is concerned) because the only reason I would keep the badges on is if I had a C32 or C55.

Its personal preference. Like someone said, if its a AMG version, Mercedes enthusiasts will definitely know the difference. People that dont know anything about the cars are clueless anyways. I removed the kompressor badge off mine though.

What does removing a badge have to do with adding one? I would say if you cant tell the difference between a Mercedes and a Hyundai, then you must be a complete moron.

Try it and let us know.

Agreed. While I disagree with people who rebadge their cars as something they are not, I don't think there is anything wrong with debadging the unnecessary lettering the factory puts on them. I have debadged every car I owned and will certainly debadge an AMG if I am ever lucky enough to own one. The letters on the outside of the car don't mean a damn thing to me.

I believe people debag cars for mainly 2 reasons...

1. it looks cleaner without numbers and the lengthy word "Kompressor"
2. then there are others who want people to think it's a higher model.

bottom line is what's the intent and preference.

however, putting a different model in my opinion is wrong, but to each his/her own if they want to TRY and fool others.

WOW...I'm very surprise to read all this criticism. Oh well…
I am very proud of my car and I didn’t remove the badges because I was ashamed of the engine. I just think it looks better without those badges and I am 100% satisfied! So I thought I would share since everyone loves pictures...

Because were a bunch of "Mercedes Enthusiast" and are proud to display at least the symbol of the star.

Besides, the C230 and compressor are attached by stickers. Once removed and the glue is cleaned up....there are no holes. If I'm correct, behind the star (once removed), there is a small hole. If so, then minor body work is needed to cover the hole and also be painted.
