Almost had an accident!!!!
I was driving Sunday nigth to my campus home, when sudently, my car switched of!!!
Lucklly I had left Highway when this happened, and was on a straigth road with no traffic (11pm)!!!
Resulted in no power, no power steering, no ligths and no brakes!!!!!!!!!!
Only a message in the instrument cluster "something EPC problem-visit workshop" all other ligths where turned off!
I managed to stop and after trying to start the car some times I drived safelly to home, and now tomorrow morning I will phone my dealer and tell what happened and ask for a free substitute car till my car is fixed .
3 weeks ago I dropped the car in the dealer to search a engine faill problem verifyed since february this year, when the car was still in factory warranty and my extended warranty ended day 10 this month
A problem never finded with some power failures and that could caused me a major accident
I think EPC is the car cpu, and I don't know what could caused this problem

Everything shut off except the warning message!! Or did that come on after you stopped and recycled the key to off/then on? Did you have to remove the key before the error message showed? Like Valdes requested....keep us informed. Glad it turned out OK and you weren't hurt or stranded.

After I stopped and recycled the key to off/then on the message wasn't going off and hadn't any more functions, even the intermitent warning "danger" ligths
I tryed some five times to turn ON the car and I made it, but I still had the error message in the dash, and I could arrive home safelly (only 2-3 miles from home)

Back from the dealer
They connected the car to the system (DAS I think) and the error showed was
" EPC error, caused by few fuel in tank or any, or air in fuel system, verify"
"possible solution, change fuel filter"
-Before the engine shutdown, I saw the fuel warning ligth 5 seconds before
-My fuel filter was changed +-3000 miles
-I only use premium diesel
What MB mean with this!?
we can't have our cars with the tank in reserve or else we gonna crash!!!!!!!
The dealer changed my fuel filter, and everything seams to be OK (for now )
I appointed for next month a highway diagnostic test drive (with a diagnostic laptop with DAS maybe!!) , because my car is not having all power it should, specially in higway. Sometimes I'm flooring the gas pedal and the car shoots like a rocket and than it starts to slow down the gain speed when the mph rises
(When I mean, no power steering and no brakes, thats the same thing that happens when we turn of the engine and try to turn and to brake, the 2 sytem stays very hard to use. Hopefully I was lefting the highway when this happened!)

One more question.....
Did you remove the key before cycling it on/off? Mind you, I'm guessing so don't get excited that I know what's wrong. If everything goes away, even the key interlock, it could be the battery and the fuel check/error message was just what was going on in the ECU when power was removed.

the error only was on the dash last nigth, today it disapeared and never came ON, but the engine failed 2 times when I was driving back to my dealer
This is the problem with the new diesel cars, so many electronics to control the engine, but in other way we get more efficient/power engines and more clean, for example, my mom c220CDI wagon have a new particles filter in the exhaust and it doesn't produce any smoke or co2, like many new diesel cars :p
