But my dealer said that they might not do it. What the hell could i tell them so that they just change this option? takes 2 seconds! So annoying they are! But the rep where i got the hids from said if i turn the lights on for 20 seconds then turn the car on theyll work? whats the deal w/ that does anyone know a trick cuz as of now i have no headlights =X..... thanks

that is the worst advise ever...I presume that he is aware of the fact that eventhough the lights might work at first, they can switch off anytime and leave you without light while driving through the dark?

You sure seem to start some posts....do you happen to be related to that C230_617 character from a while back ??

I'm willing to guess there are multiple dealerships in NJ, call around until you find one that will do it...I've heard of some doing it for free and some charging $50 to $100.

artur023, what he's referring to is the "threads" you start more-so than your "posts". Because this is a topic that has been discussed several times, there's no reason you couldn't have posted this in an older thread and received responses. Just my 2 cents.

Nah, it's not like that. It's just to prevent from having 20 HID threads or 30 suspension threads or 1500 "What mods are available for this car" threads.

You get the picture. There's people that have been on the boards for quite some time, so a lot of the times, it gets redundant for members (especially newbies) to start threads that could be easily found on search. In this case, I understand why you started the thread, but you could've also posted in threads that have been created with similar material.

Regardless, it's not my place to say. I'm just stating what I see from my perspective. And hopefully you can find a dealer in your area that'll do the HID switch (from off to on).

Thats not it..just take some time to do some research beforehand and it just makes everything smoother for you and for people searching the forum for past information....it's a whole of a hell lot easier to narrow down and understand tech. information when its in a handful of threads compared to pages and pages of crap that seems to happen when multiple new threads are started on the same topic..

it is seriously a Pain in the A$$ lately to search for squat thanks to all these retarded threads people have posted over past year. Then they just make the search process harder by continuing to post these threads. Last week i spent an hour searching for a specific answer.... it might have been quicker for me to post a new thread and hope someone would answer but I searched amongst 200 stupid lazy threads and found my answer eventually. POINT is to START USING THE SEARCH BUTTON and stop adding to the problem!

i d k if ever noticed but u guys complain about "STFF" and "use the search button" Maybe if u just copy and pasted or posted a link instead of nagging about ppl not searching, its a forum designed to help ppl w/ similar situations, not everyones is the same and not every1 wants to search the forums bc there are 9999999 of the same topics. Just say something positive at least w/o answering a thread "This has been discussed numerous time SEARCH THE FORUMS" Jeez

Put a resistor in parallel to bring the wattage up to 55 and you'll be OK.

[mod hat off]

And that is exactly the point. Lazy noobs expecting to be spoon fed. Why would noobs expect everybody else to sit, search and post links for them. If they did more of it themselves the would get their answers a lot quicker and just might learn more about it the process.

And the lazy ones that don't have no room to complain. Afterall, they get what they pay for.

artur, when you first came on these forums, I was trying to help you out as much as possible. Because people had given me grief about being a "glorified" moderator, I started to back off newbies (much like yourself) that created new threads that had been discussed 10 million times (obviously exaggerating) and I just started to provide helpful links with also a friendly reminder on how to search the forums.

It's great that you enjoy your car, but you have to realize that there are a lot of veterans on this forum that did a lot of research and inquiries before you even thought of getting your benz...And a lot of that research was put into finding answers to the questions you ask in "new" threads. There was a point, at the beginning, that you started 2 threads in the same day on the same topic!

I was fortunate enough to have experienced being on a forum (Mx6.com) before and know how to search for information I needed and READ all the 10 million threads if I had to. Everybody on this forum (at one point or another) was a "newbie", but I can guarantee you that the one's that have "staying power" are the ones that actually do look through the 10 million threads (myself included).

Yes, you are correct, this forum is here so that we can help each other in "tuning" and fixing up our cars. That doesn't necessarily give "free rain" for "laziness". Ask yourself this, "Would I rather read through 5 different HID threads or 20?"...The answer is obvious, but by you starting a thread on a topic that's already been discussed 20 times, it makes it even harder for the newbies that come after you to find a proper thread that'll give them the information they need because you've started another thread (so newbies after you will follow suit and start a new thread on every mod that they want to do).

Does that all make sense? My suggestion to you and to any other newbie is to try the search first. Look at the names of the people who seem to be knowledgable (on older thread). If you have a question about that product (e.g. suspension, lights, bulbs, body kits, performance, etc...), pm a "veteran" for an older link that they may be able to lead you to instead of just starting a new one. I hope that helps and don't be afraid to ask, just make sure that you research a lot before starting a new thread that quite possibly may have been discussed already.

Even with an '06, there are only two things that "may" not apply to you:
1) suspension - due to different motors, the weight distribution might be different.

2) performance - i.e. chipping, intakes, super chargers (exhaust could be exempted from this because most of the setups available are just replacement mufflers)

Other than those two, there isn't much else that would be different on your '06. And even then, it's still possible to bring up older threads to find out if there is further information on your '06. That way, all the information would be on one centralized thread.

Does that make sense?

Find a different dealer. Tell them you left the lights on overnight, battery was dead, and now Bix don't work. They'll just plug in the DAS and turn it on.

I had to 'bribe' my dealer to do it. I told him I'd 'remind' MBUSA when I get the CS survey how they dented my grille on a simple oil change.
