Chip or not to chip?
I'm thinking of getting a performance ecu chip for my car tomorrow, either Powerchip or Eurospeed. They claim between 15-18 hp gain, but is it reliable? Let me know your opinions. Thanks

A few people have chips - but I don't think anyone has produced a dyno to prove any gains yet. I'm not sure though if the people that got them had the M111 or the M271 though.
There seems to be quite a debate on whether the chip really gets you any hp or not. If you decide to get one, PLEASE do a dyno before/after so once and for all we have a definite answer. You'd be a hero... ok, well maybe not a hero, but people would definitely appreciate it.

There have been threads on this....... if i remember, one of the first people to get a powerchip was tifsoviv?...... that was 2 years ago if i remember correctly. Just using term "powerchip" pulls up 46 threads alone.... might be some answers there.

I don't know if it's reliable, but once I save up $640 I'm going to get the powerchip "flash" ASAP. I think its call the 93 GOLD programming.
I'll be the hero and get it dynoed, once I save up the money~
So far its the cheapest mod for the C230 that I can find (Besides the 5HP from K&N drop in filter, which I already have) Brabus and Kleemen have pulley and chips, but they cost way too much for me. :v

do it.
the reliablity isnt a problem, all stock engines have a "safety net" built into them, the chip just gets rid of some of it. if u run premium gas it shouldnt be a problem. its also the most effective $/hp upgrade for the 4cyl. k engine
