I bought an 05 C230 Kompressor Sedan and the engine is very noisy and theres a high pitch sound coming from the engine compartment.....I would like to ask you guys that owns one if this is normal or not?

Please provide me with your expertise.....

It's normal for the 4-banger to be very loud and very rough at first start-up...especially putting it into reverse. The front end will shake and makes this nasty rattling sound. Even when it's warmed up, you'll still hear a high pitch whining sound, which I think is the supercharger. If I knew it was this loud and rough, I could've gone with something else.

Oh ok then the high pitch noise is normal....Phew....Yea if I knew it makes that high pitch noise I wouldve gone with something else......Thanks!

well, some people have different tastes. some people on the board (not me) have done things to make that high pitch whining noise even louder. just turn up the stereo and it'll drown it out...

I thought the whole purpose of switching to the 1.9L is to make it quieter?

i actually like the noise coming from the engine myself.
