I've got more shares of "yo, why aren't you rich enough to buy a better Benz than this?" C classes are meant to impress the uninformed or gullible broads, both of which I had.

Quote: Yeah, I get compliments and stares all the time......ony problem is mostly with guys, girls just can't seem to overlook the fact that my car is, what they call "pukey green", but yeah, guys seem to love the colour, but girls just don't.

I don't really care though....I have my rugged good looks to attract girls. I love my car and Love my colour!!

I dont like the color but I call it wasabi green lol but hey everyone likes different colors right.

but with me. lots of older people thinks my parents got me the car. its funny.

hahaha... look at all the replies ... NOBODY CARES! Your tagline 'splains where your head's at. Start your own board where you can yell at the 3 other people who might be willing to join and live with draconian attitudes...

else, deal with it. You're likely to see 100 more on the subject. Why do you feel you have to read everything? The title is 100% right on the mark as to what the subject matter is... you see the title, you skip it!

all that aggravation in yur life is gunna give ya medical problems, getting all worked up over something so trivial as someone posting another thread on some subject =YOU= think has been covered enough some time in =YOUR= past experience on this board.

Wow. Hard to believe some of the comments! I don't think in 4 years of owning my current MB (C320) that anyone has commented to me about how much the car costs. Although I've noticed a few times when I've been out and valet the car, they've parked it up front. :p But still, we have a Chevy Suburban and the MB right now. The Chevy cost almost 15 thousand more than the MB. It replaced our BMW, which it also cost more than. I did get one comment from a friend asking if the decision to get the Chevy instead of a new BMW was to save money! Kind of chuckled to myself considering the cost difference, not to mention the cost of gas difference.

So I say to all those who feel that they are somehow "above" the other drivers because they have a "mercedes" (you know who you are), take a look at all of the SUVs on the road, and most of them cost as much or more than your "ride" (especially the C230).

Ummmmm no they aren't. they are "meant" to be an entry level luxury car which is exactly what they are. Anything other than that is simply pontification or a warped view of reality on someone's elses part.

well, i've heard from girls that when other girls first met me their initial reaction was "wow, he's hot!" (of course, this was said to other girls who then passed it on to me, they never tell you directly when they are attracted to you)

Another Tale
We are geezers. 75 & 77.
I bought the Benz as a wedding present for us, (really me).
We remember the great depression of the 30s. I am frugel.
They were practically giving away the C 230 K. Big discount!
On a trip to see our grandkids, a couple of years ago, we stopped at a budget motel in West Virginia.
I have always been a discount gas hound.
The posted price we saw blew me away. $1.50 The Exon station was closed.
As we packed up to leave the next morning, I asked the desk clerk, "what time does that discount gas station open for business?" He open his eyes real big and said, "you drive the MERCEDES BENZ AUTOBILE, AND YOU ASK ABOUT THE DISCOUNT GAS STATION??"
P.S.
THE REASON THE PRICE WAS SO GOOD IS THAT THE STAION HAD GONE OUT OF BUSINESS AND LEFT THE SWEET OLD PRICES POSTED.
WE PASSED THROUGH THAT TOWN, LEWISBURG, WV LAST WEEK AND IT IS STILL FOR SALE.
AS WE PULLED INTO MARYLAND AT THE END OF OUR 2500 MILE ROUND TRIP @ 65/70 MPH THE COMPUTER READ 38.3 MPG.

I got a great deal on my C230K and love the quality more than prestige. It was nice the salesman let me drive a new R500, E350, E320 CDI,and G500. I could have gotten those ( well The G would have been hard ) but I liked the way the C230 fits. Plus I sold my 5 year old VW Jetta TDI w/ 150K miles on it for $11000!!! SO I thought I'd get something nice. The preception of value is funny. I got flak from my inlaws for buying such a extravagant car, when my wifes 4Runner cost almost $9K more and we were trading in a POS Escalade that didn't hold any kind of value, and I had to eat several thousand dollars. I just love my car

My salesman wanted me to get an E-class because he told me the price of my loaded C-class sedan was close to the price of an E-class sedan. I didn't go for it because MBUSA doesn't sell any E-class sedan with a manual transmission.

Quote: dam u guys are getting great deals on c230's. Here in Texas, the C230 is still expensive. You are not getting one for anything near 30k. I bought an 06 with only sunroof, and 6 disk and tint and it was 35k, and that was talking some off the price.
My sales lady always comes to meet me and I never even tell her I am there. (and she is very very cute too! never seen a white girl with booty like that before either! LOL )
I second that. I tried different dealerships and the best that I could do was just 3% off MSRP! Which dealer did you get your car from? Gotta check out the car and the sales!

parkplace on lemmon in dallas. My sales person is Jessica White. I love the dealership, the give free oil changes (mobil 1 synthetic) and free car wash anytime. I figure I have already saved up about $400.00-$500.00 in car washes. (i get it washed every time there is a spec of dirt on the rims!

by they way, they didn't have a full loaded stick shift when I bought my car, so I am having to add things the hard way, or rather Sunman is adding them for me!!! Getting TV tuner Next weekend!! WHOOP! (Yes I am a Texas AGGIE)

I have heard some good and some bad about Park Place. Personally, I've never dealt with them. I've always dealt with Ewing in Plano.

Anyway, I've never heard of them giving "free" oil changes. You might want to check your paperwork to see if you purchased some kind of maintenance package when you bought the car. Since mine is an 02, the maintenance was included in the price of the car. However, I'll be getting a new car soon in which it will not be included (which is OK with me).

Benz wants you to change the oil ever what 12k or so, parkplace wants you to change it ever 6k so they give a free oil change inbetween. Just got my first one last week.

Haven't heard that. Thanks for the info. Normally, I just go by the FSS (every 12k or so), but if it's free.... why not? Also, since I believe that nothing is free, I'd just want to make sure I did not unknowingly pay for something extra.

noooooooooooooooooo!!!! Every BMW and Benz mechanic I know says that 12k miles is much too long, definitely need it done every 6k. If you plan on keeping the car (or, for the sake of someone who buys it used on down the line) you really really should do every 6.

Quote: It's funny but if you get a cheap high end car like a C230, Audi A4, Jaguar X, BMW 325 people think you have money. Ironically the same people that think you have money because you drive a low end german car drive high end SUV's that they paid much more for. For example my 2004.5 C230 was 25K new but people on the Jeep forum think I'm a snob yet many have easily paid more than that for their Jeep. A guy at work bought a $48K Ford Expendition but he's more impressed with my car.
Hehe..shhh....what they don't know won't hurt them. =P Just kidding. Yeah, a lot of times when I pick up my friends they start commenting about my car, but I always set them straight and tell them it's not that expensive because it's an entry level mercedes. They always say, "still....it's nice." *shrugs*

My co-worker just bought her daughter a fully loaded Honda Accord and she asked me how much I got my car for and she was so suprised that the honda was more.

Quote: wow, what an idiot... back when I was working my proper job was less than half my disposable income, if they had looked at my pay slip they would have laughed at me.
Yeah, it's not about how much you make. It's about how much you save...

I don't understand that at times how some dealerships can profile people by the way they're dressed, etc.

You see a ton of people dress and act like they're rich, but they don't have a dollar to their name. You also have those people who are extremely well off who wear jeans and flip flops because they can and feel like it.

Yep...I deal with Park Place as well, and they give you the oil changes in-between the major intervals for free. I had my 6K done, and I have about 500 till my Service A...not looking forward to that...
But I need to take advantage of that free carwash...SuperQ, how long does it take?
