Can't program them. Don't know where you hear this but, it's not the case.

Someone has to come up with a hack for that. Is the settings stored in the ECU or is there a seperate module for those controls?

I also heard there was a hack for it out there by the dealer, however they don't know how it was done.

I was told by my service advisor that he had seen the control buttons on several customers cars do other things.

I'll have to ask them when I bring my car in on Friday for other ECU mods like the No Phone. What exactly would you do with these buttons if they can be changed? What I would like is to make the phone button a radio mute button so when I answer the cell phone it mutes.

The buttons are controlled by the Interior CAN bus which runs off the fiber D2B ring I beleive.

This would be good. I would like to be able to scan for radio stations and still be able to switch between pre-sets. I know you can change between the two, but I would like the ability to do both. Being able to change between CDs in the changer would be nice too.

navi - radio - cd

i would really like it, if mbz allowed the buttons to scroll through the different systems. like from navi to radio to cd. that would be nice instead of having to look down and change it by hitting the buttons, it's really just for convenience.

ps class c
how bout those pics of the brabus shiftknob??

My dealer said that there was a software update to COMAND that lets the 03 system do the NAVI menu selects with the wheel controls. Will let you know as soon as i get my car.

CAN - as in Car Area Network? Like LAN, MAN, and WAN? Now that's cool.

CANbus is separate from the D2B fiber optic ring.

CAN is Control Area Network, yes. Its becoming more of a standard for controlling multiple devices and can even interface with other PLC systems like d2b. d2b is optical and very specialized CAN can interface with many different buses.
