Vehicle Data Records
I plan to have my car (c240,2002) retrofitted with some options and am trying to consolidate where info about my vehicle is recorded, so I can update as much of this as possible afterwards.
Does anyone know how many data cards and records are kept for each car and how to get these updated after a retrofit. I know the following exist and each list all the options:
- a data card in the service booklet
- a plate on the rh door frame
- a plate on the upper section of the boot
- a job card left in the car after production
- original invoice and purchase order
- ..and presumably information stored in mb computer systems

it's the sheet they pull off of NetStar that gives all the factory option codes that came with a specific VIN and will list that car's engine number as well. usually also shows the radio code on it but Mercedes had a problem with listing the radio codes on the c-coupe master inquiries so it may not be on there. it's kinda nice to have it juts in case. you can ask your service rep to print you one. hope this helps.
