Computer / Lights

Hey,
I recently bought a 2005 c230 K. I have two questions. Sorry if these questions are a bit long. The mercedes dealership I've been dealing with has been a pain in the rear. I really don't want to go back to them again at least for a while. I'm sorry if I'm asking some stupid questions, but as you can see I don't have a lot of knowledge about cars.

The car didn't come with Xenon lights or BiXenon not sure what the difference is yet? Anywaz included part of the deal was the dealership would install Xenon lights. They did not put in the projection type, all they did was put a new bulb (all all the other stuff you need to power a xenon bulb). Anywaz after they did that I got the car back and notice my radio controls are no longer showing up on the display/computer next to the speedometer. Is there anyway I can enable it, without going to the dealership? The radio works just fine, however no controls are available except volume on the steering wheel like it was before.

The inside bulb the one next to the xenon bulb turns on when you turn the headlight on, its a very dim bulb. I wanted to change that bulb out because I have this nice white xenon light and right next to it is the regular yellow bulb. Does anyone know what the part number of bulb is? Second is it easy to access from the back without removing the whole headlight. I opened the covering on the back all I could see was the high beam bulb and wiring.

Welcome to the forum.

Instructions for replacement and partnumbers of bulbs are found in your owners manual.

it shouldnt be that hard to replace! if you want nice projector styles, you can buy the whole set off ebay and plug in what the dealer installed... I'm wondering if your dealer actually installed the OEM equipment or just crappy HIDs???

but w/e I plug in 168/194s for xenon match

For the problem you have with the display. you just have to go to Mercedes, there is NO way you can fix it by yourself. On 2005 C class OEM HID headlights should be the projector type, your dealer must install a aftermarket HID kit. You just have to go back and have them to check it out.
the parking lights is 194. E-bay sell a lot of 194 LED or bulb thay will match your HID headlights.

Thanks

Thanks. The dealer said the xenons was OEM, but who really knows. The bulbs and the wire harness had to be shipped from germany. Then it ended up held up at the port due to contamination of something else that was in same shipping container which my lights were in also. It ended up taking 4 weeks to get them here, finally they put them in. What projection type headlights should I get on ebay any brand preference? Anywaz thanks this has helped me a lot now I know what bulbs to order.

The OEM HID headlights system should looks like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Merce...21955211QQrdZ1

and a copy kit made in Taiwan is this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/01-Me...22458650QQrdZ1

and your 2005 headlights system should be like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Merce...22331165QQrdZ1

As you can see your headlights can add a H7 HID kit(aftermarket) Or replace it with OEM HID headlights(projector type) which is using D2S HID bulb instead H7(your 2005 non-hid headlights) on the low beam

Just don't know which system they put it for you ??
