LOL!

The A6 is an old man's version of the S4, plain and simple. Plus, it looks like an egg. The A6 is a pretty boring car, it has no charector.

Before i'v ever seen the C230 in person i was asking my parents for a WRX and they were willing to buy it for me. But a cupple days before i saw that they saw a C230 Coupe at the MB dealer and said they like the look of the C230 much better. And once my dad slamed the door on the subaru and C230 he did not even have to think about which one i should get. At that time i was only into speed. But when i saw the C230 i knew right away i did not want the subaru. And now i dont think i will ever get any other car but a mercedes. Only when i am older one day i need a nice exotic car and a Mercedes or 2.

And now when i see a subaru i say to my self what was i thinking. But, Yes it is a very Fast car, especually for the money.
But now quality comes first for me. And now with my seconed mercedes, it makes me feel that i dont want any other kind of car other than a mercedes.

Really, quality is totaly unimportant to me and that's why I drive an MB. If I cared about quality I would have bought a Lexus or Audi. MB make pretty cars that are fun to drive but I think they lost quality when the first 190 rolled off the assembly line in 1983.

to me lexus does not use any quality peices in there cars look at the intrtiors there usually identical to toyotas. which are ugly and to much plastic. and Audis are nice but they still use to many VW parts which i dont like.

at least MB looks like they use quailty plastics.

I test drove an IS300 about 8 months ago, and the interior was extremely tacky!

And ugly and cheap looking. I test drove it once for my self and a week ago i test drove it for my sister and i hated it. Lots of cheap plastic all over and the quailty of everything looks like crap. Even there leather is ugly and looks and feels more like vinl.
And the doors are so thin looking to.

I just dont like that car at all anymore.

I did see a very nice L-Tuned one that looked great though.

I was looking at the Audi A6 as well but I was very suprised that for a large vehicle, the crash performance was considered marginal in many categories.

IIHS crash test Audi A6

The c-class sedan on the otherhand was rated best pick overall with excellent ratings in all categories. I trust my life with a Mercedes anyday

When the IIHS gives a car a rating of anything below Good, there is something seriously wrong with this car because the IIHS is KNOWN for giving nearly every car it tests, perfect ratings.

HIDs are a peformance product. Ever try to go fast at night on a back road with the OEM DOT approved halogen lights?

You will upgrade to HID pretty quick. We are even considering upgrading our C240 OEM HID to the new b-xenon HIDs when I can find them on ebay.de.

That is unless we upgrade to an E320 wagon.

Chip for Audi

Timmy,

I have an APR chip and think they tune responsibly while giving you a lot of hp and fun. So you won't go wrong with APR.

As to the look of the A6, it still doesn't look dated after 5 years. In fact, other cars are still catching up to it except for the trunk, where most have gone with an angular or stealth look (see the new I35 or A4). As to the safety issue, I believe the car (prior to '02) did not do great in offset crashes for the driver - meaning one might break a leg in a 40 mph offset crash. But it is a good value for the money - a driver's car, expecially in the twin turbo version - and the quality, especially of the interior, is excellent.

Have fun

Hey Duffer,
I found a 2001 S4 at the local carmax. Its nagaro blue with creamy looking leather, its a tip and it has 16K miles on it. $34K. Trying to talk mom and dad into getting it for me. If i get it i'm not sure if I will put an aftermarket exhaust on it but I will chip it. There is a nice TT 2002 convert 225hp, Silver black top with the baseball leather for $32K that I would love but i'll have to do some major talking and deal-making for than one.

Hi Timmy,

The S4, nice color and interior, would probably serve you better in terms of space than the TT Convertible. There simply is no room in a TT Roadster for luggage or clubs other than a very small trunk that would hold some soft luggage. If you purchased a TT, then the Coupe is more useful. The S4 should serve you well - I talked with a pro racer that drives sometimes in Audi driving schools and he prefers the 01 or 02 S4 to what they have coming in the future -an 03 S4 based on the new A4.

Would APR the S4, get some Forge diverter valves and leave it at that.

i talked to APR and they said with a 2001 S4tip with a chip and a catback system, bpv and a new intake pipe it would run a 50-5.2 0-60

Sounds like your dream car Timmy, already modded, no decisions. I think the older A4s look way better than the new ones.

yeah its a dream car, but I just don't know if I need to spend the money now or not.I'm in process of starting a new business and all the extra cash i can save comes in really handy.

Duffer: do you know of Audi is planning on making the bi-turbo S4 for a couple more years?

From what I have heard, Timmy,

the new S4, with the new body, is supposed to debut for 2003. SO I blieve it will be around for a couple of more years. Of course, you can try for an 02 S4 and do a prestige purchase, put some money down and the payments might be low enough to make it affordable - Audi may be having some 0% APR deals at the moment. Check with the wiebsite and the dealer - you should be able to take a bit off the sticker on '02s.

i would go for the HID~

coz if u r planning to sell ur car in the near future, a HID kit will increase the resale value. The Renntech chip? I bet 85% Mercedes buyer don't know what it is or just don't care~

plus, most ppl praise more of MB's luxury design than its performance...
