Thanks folks,

Yes, it has the memory/power seat option. Actually, that is just the driver side. The passenger seat adjustments are part power and part manual.

The driver side seat is all power (except for that little level on the seat back, what is the lumbar back support). There are 3 memories of the settings for the driver seat, power steering wheel column (4-way), and outside mirrors.

Couple more pictures here

The reason they bash....

The reason they bash the New V-6 is because they don't have it. If they really knew that they had the better unit, they would say nothing because if you've got it something better, you never say it. BUT if you DON'T have something better you try to make your item look beterr by belittleing the other item. Just like people who don't have something, anything for that matter, they belittle someone who does. A New Mercedes Benz is a New Mercedes Benz.
Now I will also say this, MANY & MOST of the 1.8 Supercharged people posting say they love it because it is a Mercedes Benz and they LOVE all Mercedes Benz's no mater what the case may be. Now I personally really do not like the C230K. So each to their own I guess.

the way I understand it, some people don't like the new v-6 because it is not as fuel efficient nor is it as fast as the old kompressor engine. But then there is a thread where some people say they don't like the kompressor engine because it sounds weird when you first start it up.

So, they don't bash the new v-6 because they don't have it.

Thumbs up I'll take that reply...

Yes that is a good reply. I would have bought an 05 until I heard the exhaust at take off. I then talked to the service dept. and they told me there is nothing they can do about it. it is just the sound of the 1.8 Supercharger.

However the Supercharged engine is approx. 2/10's of a second faster and quicker off the line from everything I have heard.

My own opinion though is MOST people start bashing things when they have something that appears is NOT as good as what they have now. That is human nature i.e.: My dad is tougher than your dad.

A New Mercedes benz is a New Mercedes Benz, period. The 05 and 06 look exactly alike, I love the body style 100%.

Having driven the V6 C230 with the 6 speed at MBUSA HQ, it is not a bad engine at all. I would have liked to see the C280 instead for sake of competition though. But they both have their pros and cons (1.8K vs 2.5). The 1.8 is slighlty more fuel efficient, and even more so with the way I drive. The 1.8 is also slighlty faster from a stop/slow speeds. The 1.8 is also lighter in the nose so it has a better weight distribution, so it could possibly handle better (I couldnt test that on the V6, it was raining). The 2.5 has better highway passing power, it is pepier at highway speeds. The exhuast on the 2.5 does sound really good, but so does the 1.8, Had I purchased my car when both were available, I would have a hard time choosing, but I think I would have gone with the 1.8 just beacuse it has more usefull power in the speed range I am in mostly, and highway isnt that much worse, and the possibility of better handling would push me to the 1.8. Along with the possibility of cheaper performance mods (a $2000 pulley/ECU combo or an $8000+ S/C kit. While the S/C kit might be cheaper hp/$, I dont think I would spend that much, I would have just bought the C350)

currently there are little to no support for modifications for the 1.8k other than ecu and pulley from limited source and they don't yield a great return in gain. So most ppl that do have the 1.8k are usually stuck with cosmetics mods unless they do some serious custom work.

however for the 2.5 V6 which is new the market support will be much greater and more tuner friendly in the coming years since this new engine line will be used more through out MB lineup.

stock vs stock I like how the 1.8k handles, but everything else I'm in favorite of the 06 2.5 V6 because if I wanted something faster at this price range the choice would've been the base 325i, IS250, or the A4 2.0T (much better tunability).

Glad, I can still keep my little manual mazda for a while...

Moderator, I am new in this forum and I don't know if it is okay to discuss pricing here? If not, please feel free to delete this reply: My wife got this car at $1K below Inovice price. Indeed all local dealers offered very similar prices, and we would have been as happy to buy the car from any of the dealers. My wife ended up buying from this dealer mainly because the salesperson was the most articulated among all.

With best regards,

2005 C230K Sport Sedan, 6 speed manual
Very nice C230, welcome to the forum.

Also, thank you to all of you who bought the 6-speed manual. If it doesn't sell, MB might discontinue it for the US market. Kudos to Mercedes for keeping the 6-speed available. It was much of the reason I bought my C230k.

It seems most Americans now want an automatic. Those of us who want a manual must look harder and harder. I special-ordered mine.

Don't have a Mercedes right now...
Beautifull car, congrats for the purchase ! I didn't know that the 2006 C230 had 6-cylinders. I drove a 2005 automatic C230 (4-cylinder) along with the E350 and E500, ML350 and ML500 in a driving event that MB had in Ft. Lauderdale. I fell in love with the C230. It was the nicest car. Handling was excellent, I believe that it has the same tire diameter as the AMG's (225 front and 245 back)! Suspension and breakes were also really good. The only thing I didn't like too much was the power, it seeamed a bit of too slow for my taste. We drove the cars in the miniature autocross track they had, It was pretty easy to overstere with the E350 and E500 but with the C230 it was almost impossible the car handled like it was in rails.

By the way the E500 was a bit dissapointing compared with the E350. The difference in performance felt minimal, actually the E350 seemed more responsive and the breaks a lot better.

Great clutch, short throws for the 2005, as compared to the 2004, and longevity.... I have 183,000 miles on my factory clutch.
