What's funny is that has been happening to SLK interiors for years and MB still can't get it right. Maybe they should come to Detroit to see how the big boys do it. I have 3 American cars, never even heard of anything like this happening on American cars but our SLK does this, we just touch it up, looks fine. What people have done on the SLK forum is covered everything in CF. I know you can get a wood console lid, seen it in breastroker's car.

TSB for armrest fading/peeling?

Anyone know if there's a Technical Service Bulletin (or whatever MB calls it) for this problem?

I searched prior W203 posts and found that some owners got theirs replaced under warranty and others had to get "creative" to fix it. I was just wondering if someone out there knows if the dealerships have some official reference (TSB??) or means to solve this issue.

Anyone????

This is the only TSB I could find for your year and model. I do not think it address your specific problem though. I you really want the scoop on the TSB's, you might want to subscribe to ALLDATA. I have not done this myself, so I can't vouch for it one way or the other.

I have no clue if there is one or not, I did check around for awhile though when I had this problem with mine a few weeks back, but not with stellar results. I asked my service advisor if there was one, and he was not sure. He did say that it was a problem he had seen before with other customers.

He basically told me that they would have to try to "clean" my armrest before they could replace it. Ultimately they were not able to "clean" it and had to replace it under warrenty. My 230 is only 10 months old.

There isn't.

I took my car into the dealer for this, and they went ahead and changed it for me on "good faith" and not on bulletin or recall... pretty lame actually..

coupe armrest problem

i have an six-speed '03 coupe with cloth interior and the arm rest is showing alot of wear. I have the light grey interior and the armrest is showing a horrible mark where my forearm/elbow rests when driving.

Does anyone else have this problem? and can anyone suggest a place where I can order a leather one?

I've seen wood armrests on sale... but never a leather one.

I am pretty disappointed that I've had this car for 3 years and the interior wear is showing so badly. I plan to keep this ride for at least 4-5 more years and I need to fix this.

Bad news. I have an 03 with the leather interior, but I'm pretty sure the armrest is vinyl.

Its probably not covered, yet there's an easy fix if you're willing to pay a few $$$. Even with a new one, its gonna wear again, so take it to an upholshtry shop and have it recovered, shouldn't cost a lot.

I have the Oyster Leather.
I scrubbed the armrest and top of the door with
interior cleaner sold at MBZ dealer. Megulars.

Looks like new!
Slight wear is visible on the armrest, but not much.

it's covered. the service advisor took a look at it, said so, and I have a new one. Mine does not wear anymore because I don't touch it anymore.

That's a ****ty way to use a car. I'm on my 2nd armrest, and this one is showing wear so I am recovering it myself in black suede.

is that true that the new one will wear again??

i was at the dealership today to schedule an appointment and the service provider claimed that they get them manufactured from a different company who uses different material/coating which they claim is better.

Cleaning the Center Armrest

How on earth, on the light silver interior color, do you clean the Little cracks in the interior? It seems if I rub enough, the dirt comes out.. However, on the center armrest I just can't get it out.. Its bad enough to the point I might buy the wood cover

help

No, don't buy the wood!!

I have the same color interior and so far have the same problem as you. I think it's the cleaner you use -- some cleaners are better than others. Perhaps people may know some and post them here for us. But don't worry I'm sure it can be cleaned.

I use Meguiar's leather wipes and the dirt comes out as much as possible (at least to the point where it looks good).

Has a toothbrush and / or compressed air been tried? I also flex the seats to minimize the crevice.
