Are OEM Xenons Cheaper in Germany?

I remember reading a link that someone posted in regards to an ebay item. I tried to do the search thing but can't seem to find it. I figured if I found it I can email the ebay seller. He mentioned that he purchased a set it on his last visit to Germany.

I was wondering if anyone knows how much OEM Bi-Xenons for 2003 w203 if they are purchased from Germany? Is there a difference?

Just search for them on Ebay.de. They are cheaper but consider the shipping costs, exchange rate and wire transfer fee before comitting. For some reason, Germany is still in the dark ages when it comes to shipping so make sure it's with a reputable carrier as german mail can take 2-6 weeks to get here.

OEM Xenons should be cheaper in Germany. This is how aftermarket importers (Bekkers, for example) can sell OEM lights for much less than the dealer here.

At one time, safety items (lights, etc.) were price-controlled in Europe. I am sure if this is still the case or not. In general, we pay a lot for parts in the US.

The European Xenons are not SAE (USA specification), if that is a concern for you. I have found them to work well on other European cars, but I have never replaced a Mercedes W203 headlight.

A lot of people have posted their experiences in regards to this. There are even references/pics posted as to the differences between DOT and TUV approved lights.

When dealing with ebay.de get smart on all the ins and outs. There are Euro members on this board that might be able to give you advise.

Thanks for all the great information.

I originally asked because I have a friend who is currently in Germany doing some business. I was curious to see if it would be cost efficient.

Now I would like to ask......... If you had the opportunity for a friend to pick a set up for you, would you purchase BIX from Germany?
