Do the Canadian benzes meet US federal safety and emissions regulations? if they do, why not just by a benz there? even if you do have to drive it all the way back down (really not that far, and you can break it in in one trip) based on configuring my car on the canada mb website, it's still $5k cheaper.

I believe you would have to pay a lot of Duty Tax. I think its like how in Canada we dont have Mitsubishi cars here so whoever wants one has to travle to the US and purchase one, but when they cross the border they have to pay the duty tax on it. I may be wrong though.

Who would want a Mitsubishi bad enough to purchase it in a neighboring country and get jerked around on taxes and whatnot.

DSWildfire, you should call your local DMV or your insurance company, they'll definetly be able to answer your question to the fullest extent.

Perhaps the lack of warranty will discourage this practice. Mercedes Canada typically makes you sign a waiver preventing you from selling the car to the United States within a year. Another Canadian salesman indicated that with the new 500SL's, MB Canada wanted you to lease the car for at least one year to prevent grey market sales.

DaimlerChrysler won't honour warranties
