Service Alert turn off

Hey
I was wondering if anyone has been able to figure out how to turn off their service alert on a 2003 C230 coupe? I want to start doing the maintance on my vehicle so I can ensure it is done right and start putting performance upgrades on the car. Please let me know how to do this if anyone knows
Thanks
Jared

Jared -

There's a very recent thread on this forum covering this question for the 2005 models. I think the reset procedure applies to earlier models too. Here it is:

1. Ignition key in position 2.
2. Use the page button to select odometer readout in cluster.
3. Use the scroll button to display FSS indicator.
4. Press 'R' button on cluster for approximately 2 seconds.
5. Display in cluster will advise "to reset service reminder - press 'R' button for approx. 3 seconds.
6. Press 'R' button on cluster for approximately 3 seconds.
7. Service reminder is reset.

Sorry Sailor. But you better reread his post. He is asking to disable it, NOT reset it.

Perhaps he did mean to say DISABLE, but what he actually said was TURN OFF. On my own C230, I turned off the service reminder, for another year anyway, by RESETTING it. If he meant to permanently disable the system, he might consider an ordinary reset instead, IMO.
