So when are they going to start making engine mods for the 2006 C?
I have been waiting and waiting for some sign of a kit or a turbo charger, or a super charger for the 2006 c230. With it's small V6, it seem to me that this engine could be made into a pretty quick beast, but I haven't seen anything yet. In a post below mine it said that the new C (w204) will start out with a 4cylinder engine again, so I am guessing the 2006 c is the last and only c230 with a v6. Has anyone seen any mods yet? like a complete kit for the engine or something? I am itching for a faster car. So tempted to trade it in on a c55 amg or a used clk55 amg, but I keep telling myself the body style on all those will change, just hold onto what you got and wait for the mods to come out for it. So again I guess my questions are, has anyone seen any good mods out there, and will this car be good for moding or is the small v6 just too small?

Q, I think the jury is out on the lineup for 2006. I certainly don't think the "small" V6 is a one-year situation. Why do all the development work and implement dealer maintenance training for an engine offered for only one year?
One scenario would have the 4 cyl as the base model, the 3.0L V6 the mid model and the C350 the top (non-AMG) as the US line-up... Keep in mind there are a whole group of engines available in Europe that are not available here. It's possible the small V6 could be offered in Europe only in future, but again, I don't see why MBUSA would introduce market confusion for a one-year flash in the pan. Just my 2-cents.
As for performance mods, history tells us it takes a year or more for any significant mods to appear for MBs... MB's are a niche market (read, not wide demand), and mods for them are expensive and need quite a bit of development. As for mods that did appear for the early W203 V6s, these were limited to adjusting pulley sizes and replacing chips. I couple people have tried the add-a-supercharger trick, but I recall these were one-offs. (someone correct me if otherwise.) Most development appeared to be for the supercharged 4cyl, instead, where mods can yield bigger HP gains. That's the opinion of others, at least, not necessarilly mine.

I don't get it, you had the chance to get a C280 or C350 and you chose the slow economical one. I'm assuming that if you could afford the Kleemann kit for about $10K installed, you could've afforded the jump to the C350 but since you didn't, that's out. So your best bet now for something cheap is to install a NO2 kit, get you C350 power on demand, pay per shot approach.
BTW, you may want to check with the forums owners, Evosport to see if their V6 pulley kit designed for the C240/C320 would work if they are coming out with one for the new motors. This should get you about 12HP give or take.

I didn't know anything about the c350 or 320. If I had known more i would have gotten the c55 amg and been done with it. I just went in and bought the 230 because I liked the way it looked and I needed a car asap (long story). I didn't like the way the "luxury" C looked, and I didn't know at the time that they made a bigger engine sport model of the C. I will get the kleeman kit when it comes out or just trade this car in on something else. Only problem is I sort of want to wait for the new body styles in 2007. I have my eye on a 2004 clk55 amg though, just not sure exatly what I want to do.

Net Torque 181 lb-ft @ 2,700 - 5,000 rpm

Net Power 268 hp @ 6,000 rpm
Net Torque 258 lb-ft @ 2,400 - 5,000 rpm
Looking at the torque numbers, I think there is a significant acceleration factor...but not as big of a difference between teh C350 and teh C55

Simply asking for a mod .... especially at Kleeman prices ..... may not make any economic sense.

nope I haven't calculated yet. I know everyone says that the 06 is a slug, but I really don't think you guys have driven a 6sped that has been broken in. Anyway, I was thinking of trading in on a c55 and the stealership wants 61-63k for those here and they only want to give me 25k for my car. I found a 2004 clk55 amg online that only has 12k miles, so I am considering that too. Also considering just waiting a few months for the new 07's to come out, except I have always herd never buy a car in the 1st year of new release, so instead of 6months it would probably be more like a year or a year and a half. Still can't decide. Guess it will come down to how much I can talk the clk guy down to, and how impatient I am feeling. Maybe I am just feeling this way because my mom just bought herself a lexus gs 430 loaded, and she even got the same color as my car! LOL
Might be better just to get a very nice bolt on super charger or turbo or whatever kit and just keep my car till the 2nd year of the 07's... still can't decide. sigh
p.s. I guess 25k trade in for my car is pretty good considering u guys out in so cal bought yours new for 25k :v

Frankly, if I were to lay down some bucks for a unique and stellar performance car right now, I'd get the Pontiac Solstice(don't laugh) Mallett LS2. The Mallet Solstice sells for 37K, and runs to 60 in 4.2 seconds. And its all under warranty. What a steal, eh? Now, they just need to make a version of the Saturn SKY with that kind of performance(like the styling better), and I'm outta here!

They got the Saturn Sky there too, and the Saturn looked better than the basic Solstice.
For $37K, i would get the 2006 Shelby Cobra. It probably can't match the 4.2 seconds figure of the Mallet Solstice but it's larger and got about 450 hp. That's enough to beat plenty of cars on the road
