Review mirror replacement?

Rearview mirror replacement?
My father owns a C240 4-matic (2003 I believe) and while backing out of his narrow driveway smashed his driver-side rearview mirror into a railing. The miror is fractured and the entire assembly was almost completely removed from the body. The dealer wants $1300 (!!) to replace it. I realize that there are quite a bit of electronics in there but that seems a bit excessive. Can anyone offer any advice as to what he can do?

Upgrade to folding mirrors. Contact Steve MbenzNL. It would probably cost less than $1300 to replace with folding mirrors on both sides. With the folding mirrors, your father would have less chance of damaging them again.
