Flat emblem

So my hood emblem got stolen for the second time so I decided to install a flat emblem. While i was installing it though the black piece thats used to fill the gap of the screw and nut fell inside the hood and I cant get it out anyone got any suggestions? If you dont know what im talking about ill elaborate in later posts.

I know what you are talking about. Use the Magnet pickup tool or you can try to shake it around the hood or slam the hood and hopefully it will pop out.

There's no other way of taking it out unless you take apart the hood.

Hey! You guys are nuts!

You could put your car on a steep incline and maybe its steep enough that the nut will fall out.

He's talking about the black rubber coated, dish-shaped piece that goes between the badge lower plate and the screw. It's placed on the threads from below (after the top pieces are inserted from above), and the nut pressures it against the bottom of the hood to tighten things up. So, there's no reason why it should be on the threads going through the top of the hood. But what's done is done.

That said, I dropped the nut into the hood (it didn't need to be above the hood, either, LOL!) I have a flex-tool with four-pronged finger hooks on one end, Squeeze plunger on the other end. That would work, but you have to hope the piece hasn't wandered toward away from the center area. Not sure a flex-tool with magnet will work through than rubberized black coating. Call the local car parts store for either one.
