the 330i comes with 4-year free maintenance, the C350 does not. If you take that into consideration, the 330i will look like a bargain compared to the C350.

BMW advertise they change the pads, rotors, and windshield wipers for free, but people probably only change their brake pads once, never the rotors, and never the wipers over these 4 years. It's all about making the consumer seem like they are getting a lot of FREE stuff in reality you will never seen any of it changed other than the brake pads for 90% of the people. Are you really getting it free? no because BMW has raised the price for every option they have while making it seem as the base price has stayed the same.

Mercedes all the way!
in the end, i guess you just buy the car that's best for yourself.
it's no use telling people to buy this or that because they have more features or lower price - the price has always tempted me to japanese but i've stayed with Merc because the japanese, even lexus, lack that "something" - cohesiveness, suppleness, design; whatever it is, it isn't there. and there's no point consoling myself that at least i got more standard features when i'm not happy with the purchase.
(i gave in and got a Mitsuoka Cute - i.e. Nissan March - for my mum. but i'm beginning to regret it :p should have gotten the ForFour instead)
so, congrats on the C350 and enjoy it! to me, rear side airbags are really no big: far, far more important is to buckle up.

330 vs C 350

C350 Sport Sedan
Iridium Silver Metallic
Black Leather
7G-Tronic
Sunroof package
Lighting package
6-Disk Changer
Heated Front Seats
Slit-Folding Rear Seats
Happened to find a car that was pretty close by. I was looking for one that had the Entertainment package and the Rear side airbags but those weren't deal breakers for me. Probably better this way as the overall price is less without them. Really glad it had the folding rear seats though.
I test drove a C230 (multiple times, both the 1.8L Kompressor and the new 2.5L V6), a 2006 330i, 2003 CLK500, and for the sheer pleasure, a 2006 C55 AMG. I ended up with the C350 for it's great looks and with it's new 3.5L V6, amazing performance. The engine is butter smooth with lots of torque throughout the powerband. The 330i definitely had better handling, and quicker throttle response but I just can't get over the rear design, just not me. The CLK500 is a very nice car but in the end I wanted 4 doors. The C55 is an animal. Starting it felt like awakening a beast. It was also a little more than I wanted to spend and I could also see myself getting into a lot of trouble with 362hp on tap.
My thoughts on the C350? Drove it around for a couple hours after I picked it up. This car is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Sporty yet refined. Powerfull and composed. It almost feels like they read my mind and made a car just for me. I really can't wait to drive it again.
FYI - my car came with Michelin Pilot Primacy (not thrilled) tires.
PS - I've been lurking here for over 2 years and only recently started posting. :v

Literally, I'm confused to how you thought the BMW 330 had a better throttle respones. NO WAY. I drove the new 330, and I had previously driven the old style 325. I thought that the new 330 was a dog off the line. However, congrats on choosing a fantastic car.
Does anyone one know when the C is supposed to be redesigned?

I believe the W204 will be released in 2007.
To clarify, the accelerator pedal in the W203 dosen't make the car jump off the line. The first few degrees of travel don't do anything. When you want full steam however, the C350 is MOST DEFINITELY faster. In the 330i however, the first few degrees of accelerator travel moves the car more. Maybe I used the wrong terminology. Either way, I absolutely, positively love my car, wouldn't trade it for anything else. Will post some pics after dinner - sorry guys it's been a busy day.

Congratulations on the car. The C350 is really quite a step up from the C320 in terms of acceleration.
Your picture of your instrment cluster makes me think of an interesting point. Do you guys with the 2005+ non-AMG C-class ever get confused when you look at your dash? Both the speedometer and tachometer have numbers going up in multiples of 10. They look very similar.
This is quite different from the C55's cluster, where the tachometer numbers goes in multiples of 1, so it is clearly different from the speedometer.

Nope - When I'm bustin the gangsa lean with my right hand on the top of the steering whee, I can't even see the RPM's but I see the speedo fine! :p
Seriously though, the movements of the two dials are different enough so that you don't get confused. The AMG gauges are much better in this respect and also have clearer and better looking typefaces for the numbers.
