Program a remote

Hi, i am looking to get a spare key without paying $200 at the dealer. Is it possible to buy a remote key (I dont need the regular metal key as I jhust need to keep a spare one in the garage) and program it for my car? I assume the key would be come from another C class. What do you guys think, my car is an 02

Vehicle/VIN specific. Dealer only. No Ebay cheap alternative. Only thing i can
think of to offset cost is to see if your GOLD credit card, you auto insurance,
etc has rider which covers cost (to some degree) of lost key. It may mitigate
the otherwise pricey little Smartkey. Ebay keys are only good for exterior
swaps, eg when your buttons get screwed up and scratched etc

No, they pre-program it from the factory.

This one is dealer only. They have to order it...no on site programming. Oh, and are you in for a treat when you try the new key.
