Insert CD After Car is Off - Turns Car Audio On?
Quick question. I'm always leaving my CDs in the car and then walking out to eject them because I want to listen to them in my house or my other car. On every other car I've owned or driven, you can open the car, and eject the CD no problem. This is the same with the Benz... but:
Yesterday I took a CD out of my 2nd car, opened the Mercedes, put IN the CD, and expected to lock the car and go back inside. (Wanted to put a cd inside the Mercedes from the other car for a later drive.)
Anyway, I lock the car and walk away and the stereo starts playing inside the Mercedes WITH the car armed. All the dash lights go on as well.
To turn everything off I had to unarm the car, open it, put the key in, turn it to the ON position, then to the OFF position. Then I locked it again.
I had to use the key because just hitting the power button on the stereo left all the dash lights on. After turning the car off with the key and arming it again everything turned off except for the center computer screen display. I had to lock the car AGAIN for it to turn off.
I was wondering if this is a bug? Or by design - and if anyone else has experienced this. Thanks!

is SOLD
the radio is designed that way. it is on constant power that's why you can turn on the radio without the key. so when you put the CD in with the radio off it will turn on.

Hold on, lemme think about that....
BECAUSE I'M LAZY!!
(Hence I don't RTFM)
Anyway thanks for the info guys. Just kinda annoying that potentially you could lock the car, leave, and the stereo could be playing for the next 30 mins.
You would think MB would at least make it smart enough to shut off when the car alarm is armed.
