2002 MB C230 Kompressor
Starter Modifications.
no, not modifications to my starter, i'm asking baout starter modifications for my 02 C230 Kompressor. theres the usual (below), am i right..?
Air Filter
Exhaust
Chip
couple questions....is the supercharger's boost electronically controlled or would i have to change pulley's to get more boost? moreso- at what PSI does the engine currently run at in stock form, and what can it be taken up to before any problems occour?

A C230 with an overboost pulley, air filter and exhaust should make ~ 240HP at the crank.
filters, exhaust, and chip is about right if you are a more performance oriented modder. Some people like to make their car looks better before they do performance mods. Some like to make their car perform better before they do cosmetic mods. It depends on what you like.
for the former you can go with: filters, exhaust, chip, pulley, springs/suspensions, wheels, and then lastly bodykits.
for the ladder you can go with: wheels, suspension, exhaust, bodykits, chip, and pulley.
happy modding

okay, okay, excellent......any good websites to recoommend to me? i'm sorry i'm asking newbie questions here (albeit, i am a MB newbie, but nonetheless-) i have tried and tried asking google, but all i get are these dime-a-dozen generic websites all running the same lame software. and theres ebay of course- but unless i'm buying brand-name parts, i wouldnt trust much of the crap thrown around on ebay.
for my exhaust, i'd be looking into a cat-back system with hiflo cat. converter, as far as upgrading the intake, i'd be interested in either just a green or K&N filter for approx $50, or is there an entire intake assembly available? again- these may be redundant questions, but i'm only asking because i have tried to research this on my own to no avail...maybe i'm not looking in the correct places? help me out, if you feel so obliged..... much appreciated.
one more issue to address- i suppose i'd like to upgrade the ECM/ECU or just install a chip (for example a lot of cars, such as a 90-96 Nissan 300ZX TT have a chip in the ECM/ECU that can be replaced with a performance chip, or for another example a dodge dakota 5.9 can be chipped or had the "ROM Flashed").....furthermore- i'm wondering why this is considered a "heavy mod"? i'm not critisizing here but i always kind of thought that the basic, introductory modifications done to a car should be to let the engine breathe, primarily (intake & exhaust), then attack the stock fuel maps and ignition curve. after that, if you're running out of fuel, you attack that system.
EDIT: as it seems, the advertisement for evosport chips on this page caught my attention, so that question seems to be all but settled, but one last question on the chips subject would be if there are any other companies that make chips or modify the stock ECM/ECU such as evosport/powerchips?
last but not least......one fellow mentioned the stock intercooler getting a bit overburdened.....is there a performance-oriented unit that will fit in the stock location or a front-mount option? along those lines- when does the stock intercooler begin to hold you back? its amazing they bothered to install a intercooler for only 5PSI. my stock Z ran about the same out of the factory, and i raised it to 12.5PSI....and that was non-intercooled.
for now- i'm just looking to make it fast. if i make it all show and stock go (because lets face it, the little things do have some "umph" from the factory!), then it almost fits into the "ricer" catergory.....at least in my eyes. but hey- tuning is in the eye of the driver, wether it is tuning the looks or the performance.
me? i'm performance oriented. i just got out of a 86 Nissan 300ZX Turbo 5 speed, and i kept it all stock on the looks, but raised the HP to around 250.
thanks again.

kleeman and brabus are the major tuners for MB.... suspension tein coil-overs seem most popular. Chips (K-box) and pulley mods are common and headers seem to be awesome hp increase per $ spent. Good luck.
I totally tricked out my toyota supra before buying my MB...
eibach, tokico, hks, etc... I know where you are coming from.
