mgheaders- you catching there is significant interst here?!?!
Can you post pic so the replacement systems for header+cat using oem O2 sensors so we can drool and get a group buy put together? Any dyno numbers for the version I just discribed? Anxiously waiting....

Does the header for LHD cat/downpipe bolt up to the collector or is it one piece all welded together? Also are the O2 sensor fitments located near the same area as OEM?

The header is not welded to the cats, unlike the stock you have there.
You will have the header, similar to what SLKfans has demonstrated with the flange at one end followed by the cats with a flange at both ends.

I will have the pics ready by today for your view..indeed, there will be 2 O2 sensors before and after the cat.
As far as the manifold design is concerned, it will be similar to slkfans who just got them. In addition to that, you will have the flange at both end of the cats so that you can fit them to the manifold and the downpipes that link to the secondary cats. Of course with the o2 sensor before and after the cats.
It took us several months to develop the header with different angles of the bend with different prototypes. After settling down with almost 8 prototypes, the final one that goes on mass builds works best. As you can see, we have shortened the mandrel bends as far as possible. Longer bends with the primary pipes exhibit a lag with very little back pressure. Obviously, we want to minimize back pressure but a decent amount of back pressure is still required to sustain the torque. The longer the bends is with longer downpipes, the initial lag would cause a discomfort with some drivers with a different driving behaviour.
The fact that the stock header with a 4 -1 design works well with shorter mandrel bends to sustain a consistent exhaust flow. Unless you have a 4-2-1 header, having a a longer mandrel bends and downpipes contributes a different ball game.

With so much pain and work, it will be better off to get a precise header that mounts to your engine....

M271 Headers
Hi All,
SLKSFAN-How are the headers performing ,can you supply a couple of photos of the headers since they have used for us to see the colour changes in the stainlees steel .
mgheaders - No replys to Pm's or recent replies to posts.
Is everything Ok, There seems a lot of interest about the headers still.
Regards

Check the other forum... There is some interesting stuff there... and a possible thing with the initials using B and G <wink> (trying to avoid TOU problems!) But hurry!

sorry guys for the late response...I wasn't aware that my message inbox was full. Springer, I have been messaging you but somehow I am not too sure if you received them.
We have began our production for the M271 RHD headers and it will be shipping out this week. Unless we see a decent quantity for the LHD headers, a mass build will be scheduled. As I am aware that the LHD has the primary catalytic converter mounted to the end of the stock header without any flange, wouldn't it be easier to have a flange at the top end of the primary cats so that you can have that in place with the aftermarket headers.
Any inputs or suggestions ? let us know

never removed you cats...we have tried that and the air/fuel ratio is in a mess.

Unless someone can tell me if it is convenient to locate a exhaust workshop around your area or a couple of blocks away...

Random technology 200 Cell w/ O2 bungs might work here.... but you should incorporate a catalytic converter solution into your design and sell for the LHD (OEM fit and use of both O2 sensors).
When could development with the inclusion the catalytic converter be complete? What is the minimum number of orders to initiate production?
Looking forward to hearing results!!! Thanks again.

Good question.
Apparently, setting up the an entire new jig for the LHD headers incorporating the downpipes with the primary cats involves time, and investment cost..
It will be great to have a complete solution having the headers and the high flow cats running in pairs, however, the operational resources having to set up the builds involved, time, planning as well as other transparent factors. If the end demands are less than 50, this would not make sense to have the line setup, honestly..
Unless we are looking at 150 to 200 pcs, we could really work something out..we have also proceed to order a sample of your stock headers (LHD)from DC so that we can make sure that the finish product of ours would be a direct fit solution to your LHD vehicle. However, your stock header will take at least 2 months to reach us. Unless anyone of you could purchase your stock header and send it to us, that will help alot in terms of time and production. We will bear the cost of this headers as well as the freight.
Let us know and we are keen to hear from you.....
