Does the C240 come with synthetic or conventional oil from the factory? I have 5000 miles on my C240 and with the break in period over think it's time to get the oil changed if it's conventional. The service advisor claims it comes filled with Mobil 1 Synthetic....... What's the real story?

Mobile 1 is what it has, says so in the paperwork that came with the car. The problem is that I can get nobody to tell me what weight oil is in the car, not Teleaid, not the manual, not the dealer. When I asked MB they say it varies by region. So I said what is it for my region, they said ask the dealer. Arghhhh! Then the dealers don't necessarily replace the Mobile 1 with Mobile 1, some use Castrol or other synthetics.

as far as i know it is Mobil 1 synthetic from the factory... and i know the car takes 8.5 quarts... but as for the wieght... no idea

That's easy...only Mobil 1 15W50 or 0W40 are MB approved. Your car probably came with 0W40 from the factory. Note that 0W40 is just about impossible to find in N.American right now, but Mobil 1 15W50 is readily available from Walmart, for example.

hmmm.....my Coupe came with Mobil1 BLENDED 10w40 (according to MBUSA)....I changed to full synthetic at ~1500 miles

I believe, from older posts, that the V-6's are filled w/ full synthetic, and the 4-banger comes w/ blended oil.

What I was told from my dealer was the cars from the factory come with an oil blend - has both regular and synthetic. I am not sure what percentage mix it comes with. They said that it helps with the initial break in period. Thereafter, all oil changes are 100% synthetic. I dont know if this is all BS, but that is what was told to me.
