Cheap Puddle Lights For the E46, Can We Put it On Our Cars?

I don't know if you guys have seen this on e46...
http://jlevistreetwerks.com/store/pr...82245e2bd6a033

They have puddle lights that seem pretty easy to put on. I was thinking of getting them but wasn't too sure where to tap into so that I could get them to light with my keyfob for the "illuminated entry" feature. Anyone have any ideas? This is a really cheap alternative to the Brabus puddles...

I'm pretty sure these are the same ones that sell on ebay, Phil. At least the picture they have on there looks just like a w203, so I'm assuming it would work. Not positive though.

hmm... I was going through e46fanatics and there's a huge brouhaha regarding these things. Allegedly they're supposed to be custom engineered and crap. But, I think they'd be decent. I'm just wondering now where to tap into...

From what I've heard, most people tap into the dome light so that they only come on when getting in and out of the car. If you want to be ricey and have them on while you drive, then I dunno what to say...

first of all, yes they do tap into the dome lights but its not an easy job. Unless your really good with wiring then you can go for it, but even TWS that did it for me took 5 hours.

2nd. If they arent real Brabus puddle lights the quality of the light wont be as great.

Its all crap. Its all comin outta taiwan and china, probably even the same factories.

Go over to your local hardware store, you can buy 8 of the 9 LED pucks for about 79 bucks.

I was thinking of connecting to the fog lights, so all the wiring stays outside. Cappa is right concerning quality, LED's range from SLR to Kia, and more Kia's are sold than SLR's.

I was kind of worried b/c these puddle lights only have 1 LED per "light" but the Brabus ones have multiple LED's.

As for the on while running, yeah, that's pretty gay. I just want them for the access function (I love the way the fogs and park lights turn on when you open your car so I figured this would add a little more). But, yeah I'm worried about the wiring and may just check with TWS.

Thanks!

5 leds per lights to be exact, and yeah dont do the wiring yourself you can seriously mess up your car.

It would be very simple to wire them to your interior lights the hard part would be to get the lead to the exterior of the car, I do not know where and exterior grommet is besides the firewall.

I think 1 LED per light is too few. If a few of them fade in the later time. Things can get ugly.

It's not that hard to install. The wiring is simple. I wired them to the rear dome light, passing wires thru some rubber grommet openings under the driver/passenger footwell. They fade in and out when you lock and unlock the door. You can install the leds in the plastic underbody panels or the sideskirts. If you need help, you should talk to the expert on led installs, DACHIGGA.

Up front, I'm a cheap a$$.

I have checked out some of the LED products from Walmart, it's cheap, but decently made. I worked at a auto accessories stores a few years ago, there was Japanese made LED products which quality was superior than the Taiwanese made product. However, the quality from both country is similar nowadays.

Back on topic, you can get a pack of 4-5 LEDs from walmart for ~$7, put them on and wire them up. But i bet walmart is too cheap for your blood eh?

Pshek, when TWS wired the puddle lights to my car, for some reason there wasnt enough current going into the puddle lights to keep them lit up, but for any 04 and below it worked, I guess its only 05's.
