First post, Looking to buy an Acura or Mercedes C class...

Well I was going to buy a 2003 Acura CLS 6 speed. Now around the same price is the 2002/03 C320's. Can you guys give me some input on the Mercedes?? Any known problems???? Things to look for. What is the difference between 240's 320's......
Thanks for any help you could give.

2005 C320wz
I don't know about the problems that a C-class sedan could have but I know when it has a problem, the repair bill can be quite expensive.

As to the differences between a C240 and a C320: The C240 got a smaller v-6 engine and the C320 got a bigger v-6 engine. As a result, the C240 is more fuel efficient and the C320 is more powerful.

a quarter mile at a time
also 240's are "luxury" models. They have a higher ride height, softer suspension. The 320 can be either a luxury model or a sport model. The sport models have a stiffer suspension, lower ride height, larger wheels, AMG bodywork, and bigger brakes (there are other differences too).

I drove a 2001 Accord EX-V6 sedan before I bought my C350 so I know a bit about both cars.

The CL Type-S will be noticably bigger than the C-Class. There is also that little difference of RWD vs. FWD on the Acura. The J series V6 is also a very good engine and overall, the CL Type-S will be quicker than a C320.

I would drive both cars and then come back here for any questions you have afterwards. They are both great cars. Good luck!

I thought I'd never say this.....STFF. There are whole threads dedicated to the many, many problems. Most recurring problems were not fatal (leaving you stranded or in danger) and were addressed with technical bulletins. If you want reliable go Acura. If you want driving experience go MB.
