C240 Wagon
I'm interested in the '03 C240 wagon, but the MBUSA online C-Class brochure shows "delayed availability" for it. Does anyone know when it's going to be available? I might want to go for an '02 C320 wagon with a big discount instead if it's going to be too far off.

For myself, we decided to wait. If the wagons don't sell as anticipated and they start offering discounts on them, I may reconsider.

They had huge factory incentives to offload the '02 C320 wagons and they were selling for less than many C240 sedans. The C320 is way, way better than the C240 in terms of power and drivability.

Thanks for your comments. I was thinking along the same lines. The C240's power seems enough for me (I had a 170 hp 323i that was just fine), but an '02 C320 might end up being less than an '03 C240 after you add the auto, C1, and Bose. Plus, it should be worth more when I sell it, in spite of being a year older. I may not get exactly the color and options I want, but I'm not sure that's worth the delay and extra cost.
By the way, a dealer told me today the C240 wagon would be available mid-October.

I just traded my C240 sedan for a C320 wagon and It is great. The difference in power is significant and we love having the extra room.
The only time I can even tell the difference in handeling is when I look in the mirror and see the rear wiper blade

Just returned from an extended Northern Europe / Scandinavian trip. The C-wagons are numerous and popular throughout the Baltic Rim. Mine has been trouble free and the handling and power live up to the sport wagon name.

I went ahead and put a deposit down on an '03 C240 wagon yesterday. I drove both the C320 and C240 (sedan) again and again found the C240's power to be just fine for me. The nearest '02 C320 wagon in the colors I wanted was in Texas (I'm in N. California). And although I could have gotten thousands off an '02, I got a better-than-expected discount on the '03. Even though the 320 might well have been the better value overall, I decided to go with the '03, so I could get exactly the car I wanted (white/java, auto, C1, C2, C4, Bose, factory CD changer).
It's the dealer's 4th C240 wagon (first three already sold) and is to be built mid-September and delivered late October. It's going to be a long few months!
