Quote: How "invasive" is the airbag change?
Does someone have pictures of the open steering wheel showing the airbag module?

Are there any chance to get things broken during the replacement?
Is having the air bag replaced by a dealer as safe as the one install at the factory?

I mean, how do you test the airbag to know that they did everything right? I'm sure a significant percentage of problems are not fixed right the 1st time...How often do you see people on this forum having to go back several times for the same problem because the dealer did not fix it right...
And again, how do you check they did a good job? Are you willing to take maybe a 10% risk of not having it fixed right just to fix a "OF-POSITION UNBELTED 5TH PERCENTILE FEMALE" problem?
Do you think not going for the recall is an option?
I understand your feelings. Then there are the things that happen like when I went it for an oil change and they scratched my bumper (only the impact strip) and when I went for them to replace it, they kept me waiting for an hour then came out and told me that they ordered the wrong side and I had to come back again. Fun stuff.

Just had my done today. I didn't even have the letter with me, I went in and asked them to check if there's any recall for my car, they went to their computer and said there's a airbag recall ..........they had my car for 45min and I was out. My dealer even provided chacolate chip cookies and apple juice while I waited, good servce.

Btw, the total bill was $947.40 ($917 was part and rest was labor) which is all paid for by Mercedes. Go get this done guys~

I haven't received mine yet and I'm in no hurry to let the stealer touch my car. They might hook something up backwards and make my headlights point straight at the ground again.

Quote: Pretty rare to see a 4'2" woman driving a c while 3" away from the wheel. It is pretty common though to see women driving 4-5" away from the wheel . I still can't figure out how that is humanly comfortable...
Here in th Bay Area, Asian moms drive about 1/2 inch away from the windshield soo there you have it.

the recall notice doesn't say when it would expire. Are you sure we can bring it in later ? My car will need service B done around September and if the recall fix offer is still good by then, I would rather get it done at that time.

Thanks.

not sure but isn't it a mandatory government required safety thing? like as in if you come in 10 years from now they still have to do it for free?

Thanks, MB2006 and ctC230K. I will wait a few months and then call my service advisor to make sure . I am not a female, let alone "a female of extremely small stature" who doesn't wear a seatbelt to take this recall too seriously

how about a girlfriend that drops something, has short arms, gets rid of the seatbelt for a second to be able to reach it, bows forward and some idiot rear ends you?

got mine some days ago too. i'll get it done with my next service, which is just around the corner

haha. Honestly, I don't like take my car to the dealer unless I absolutely have to do it. I read some of the threads here and learned that sometimes bad things would happen after a trip to the dealer, like scratches, dents, body damage, service guy taking the car out for a joy ride, etc...

So, a trip to fix the airbag and another trip to do service B, I would rather do them both at one time

Just got this done last Saturday....appt was at 8:30am and was out of there at 9:30am. My car was mostly sitting in the work area and total work time (as I watched from a distance) was less than 1/2 hour.
