C240 windshield wipers
I have a question on the 2002 C240's wipers. When I push the knob thingy to clean and wipe at the same time, the wipers turn on right before the washer fluid is sprayed, so that the dirt on the dry windshield is scratched by the wiper for a couple of seconds. Does anyone know if there is any way to fix this, or if there is a way to spray washer fluid and wipe separately?

I noticed this, too. I had to learn how to use it.
It's possible to "lightly" push the stalk button in to initiate a single (manual) swipe, for those ocassions when you hit a puddle and get splashed.
To go straight to wash/wipe, I think you have to be more aggressive. Push the button in with one, decisive motion, to the stop position. I think you will see the washers function at the same time as the wipers.

Yes, the washer and wipers will come on basically simultaneously if you push directly past the first stop to the wash position. However, not much fluid gets on the windshield before the wipers begin to go up. But, this is true of most wiper systems. Unless there is a separate switch to operate just the "squirts", the first wipe will be somewhat dry.
BTW, you can also use the single wipe function even when the sensor mode is on. I sometimes use this if I'm stopped and there's a fine mist on the windshield that wasn't sufficient to start an auto swipe.
