Oil Change Interval....
There's been lots of discussion on whether or not to follow the FSS on our cars for oil changes and I decided to see how my engine was doing at 98K miles since I've been following FSS and changing it about every 13K miles. This oil analysis from Blackstone Laboratories shows Mobil 1 easily lasts long enough to be changed at FSS intervals and the wear factors are excellent. The engine doesn't use any oil between changes (perceptible) and the power and gas mileage (25.5 mpg average city/highway) are same as when the car was first broken in. I'm a believer.

Mobil 1 is worth the few extra dollars, when you factor in almost no wear and extended drain intervals it is more economical than old fashioned oils.
Mobil 1 is, however, only half the equation that equals 13,000 miles (30,000km) between oil changes. You must use a fleece oil filter as well. So many times people are given a paper filter and the wrong Mobil 1 oil because the computers in the auto parts store are wrong.
Only Mobil 1 0W-40 meets Mercedes spec sheet 229.5.

Thanks for the post, I know there is always lots of discussion on FSS intervals. I have been using Mobile 1 in all my cars and motorcycles for quite some time. Cool to see the oil analysis.
