Check Engine Light.. Suggestions?

I got gas at one of those Chevrons where all 3 octanes come out of the same hose on sunday. Well, today, I go to drive to subway and it started up with a rough idle.. and I get that damn Check Engine Light. I stop the car, then start it back up.. engine runs fine but the light is still there. I did the basic troubleshooting with the fuel cap.. so my thought is to drive the car until the I have no gas in it then go fill it up at a regular Chevron station.. Think that'll make the "Check Engine Light" go away??

Note: My regular warranty is up but I'm still in the extended warranty period. Thanks..

Go to Atuo Zone and have your trouble codes read and then use the search to get further help.

Don't believe using even the lowest octane available would give you a CEL because the engine adapts to octane. You may have corrected the problem when you checked the fuel cap and it takes a couple driving periods for the light to go away. Did you look at the rubber seal on the cap and the end of the filler pipe? Warranty is a good thing. Let us know.

Yes, everything checked out ok.. I'll go to AutoZone and see if I get any codes.. Is there anywhere online where I can decipher the number codes?

Ok thanks Robert.. I got another dumb question.. Where are you suppose to plug the OBD 2 Scanner into? I read somewhere that it's located in the passenger area but when I unscrewed the plastic piece (right below the glove compartment), I don't see anything.

Under the dash to the left of the steering column. There's a cover over the connector.

Ok so I took my car to AutoZone and borrowed their OBD2 Scanner. Hooked it up to my car and got "P0302 - Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected". I went ahead and cleared it since the car was running fine.. and I figured if it really was a problem then it would come up again... I would contribute the misfire/rough idle that I experienced on friday to not starting my car in a few days... Thanks everyone for your help.. If not for this forum.. I would've probably went to the stealer and get bent over..

Check this out...I had the same exact thing. A few starts and the engine light will clear, but it kept coming back on, most often when going on to the freeway. I waited for another tank of gas and then I had had enough. Took it in to have the dealer look at it / replace the driver's airbag due to recall. It was a bad spark plug, so if I were you, I would take it in if it keeps misfiring.
